The GOP would not act this way unless they felt they had 2018 in the bag. With money, a cooperative media, voter suppression, election fraud et al, the Democrats cannot win. They will just turn loose the KKK and white supremacists to scare away the minorities. They just will stop Democrats from voting and they will stuff the ballot boxes.
Now what I just said is probably a myth. But you have to wonder after 2016. The likely hood that Trump would have won those key states in the eleventh hour like he did is impossible. Votes were stolen and thrown away and we all know it.

The "how" is the question.
I don't know. But I am sure that there is someone who does know how to fight this.

(491 posts)of their actions. The only reason we won in 2006 is because everyone witnessed the Republicans f***ing everything up when they are in total control. BTW, I have a pre-existing condition. I would gladly suffer just to see the malignant ideology of the Republican party shown for the shits-how that it is.

(9,241 posts)...yep.
I think Democrats need to be a LOT MEANER.
I don't mean they need to change their ideology or platform or move further left or center - just that they need to be MEANER. Like, NOW.

(8,419 posts)Fair play and all, but when we knock them down, we don't help them up, and never, NEVER, apologize.
The media will be all over us at first, but fuck them, we need to knock them around a bit too.

We have to win a real 60% or more to squeak by at 50.1% at the polls.

(10,602 posts)We need to broadcast extremely nasty even borderline inappropriate ads. I would like to see and add with that RVN Colonel shooting that hostage and past in a GOP rep pulling the trigger on a person even a black one . We need to go after them calling them racist every single time.

(16,095 posts)that our nasty, borderline inappropriate ads can also be TRUE.
But we need to fight even harder than they do, we need to meet everything they say with a hard punch back at them.
And we need to stop "going high".

(6,916 posts)The propaganda right wing outlets are really hard to fight. They make a lot of money, by scaring old white men.
One thing that might help is protests at fox news HQ in NY. Where does Limbaugh tape?

(9,527 posts)The national polls were slightly more accurate in 2016 than in 2012. Nobody here is claiming Obama stole 2012. Clinton lost the election.
It's embarrassing that people here put forth utterly unsupported claims that there were actual votes changed. How is it any different than Republicans claiming in person voter fraud is a problem?
mvd
(65,173 posts)No one should shut up about it. I doubt they will. And Obama won easily both times. Clinton got 3 million more votes and lost, with Russian interference throughout. You have more faith in the voting system than I do.

(13,081 posts)It's nicer to Hillary than I expected, and at points vicious towards her campaign staff. The book made me angry and sad, but it explains how we got in this mess and doesn't need any "conspiracy theories" to explain the loss.
(And, personally speaking, I'm far more concerned about voter suppression than election rigging)
mvd
(65,173 posts)Very interesting. I don't always agree with their characterizations (and not just of Hillary), but it really is revealing and is actually helping me cope despite being sad. I am not saying for sure it was stlolen. Just that I have always had that feeling something was wrong with the vote that night. If Trump becomes impeached, maybe we will know everything.

(466 posts)We had 2012 Obama voters voting for the pumpkin in 2016. I've seen people just blow this off as voter fraud. I'm afraid lessons that could be learned from 2016 will be ignored.

(1,097 posts)You will find that wingnuts were SCREECHING about stolen votes and stolen elections.
Every time one side loses, they scream about voter fraud with zero to back up the bullshit conspiracy theories.
It's nothing but hooey and makes the people who spew it look like wackos.

And as much as people worry about election fraud, it's more difficult than you might imagine.

(1,002 posts)I'm fairly certain that in Colorado anyway, we're gonna kick the GOP's ass in the midterms. Colorado Senator, Cory Gardner(R), is on his way out for sure. We have mail-in ballots - you don't even have to leave your house to vote in Colorado. I think voter outrage may trump any activities on the part of the KKK in the red states. (HEH!) We need to stay positive and not give in to worry or despair. These are dark days for our country, but we'll make it through if we just keep fighting the good fight. I firmly believe this. NPR reported that Dems in the House began singing "Hey, Hey - Goodbye!" after the ACA repeal act was passed today.
Hey, hey - goodbye, repugs. It was nice knowing you. NOT!

Most of us don't know we're at war. We just work 5 days per week, and enjoy our weekends as best we canif we're even that lucky.

They had rather painted themselves into a corner on repeal.

(17,862 posts)Badger them until they admit that they just passed something they were told to pass.
At that point tell them they are just f____ing playing with people's lives. They are already on record admitting to sabotaging ACA.

(37,428 posts)...or if they just can't agree with the House on what to do, perhaps the GOP can count on our goldfish-like memories. But I don't see how this can be anything other than a net negative for 2018.

The registrars of voters across the country?
The attorney generals across the country?
The secretaries of state across the country?
The governors of the states across the country?
The Democratic leadership in Congress?
The Vice President?
President Obama?
