"People were forbidden from giving or receiving religious items at a military hospital where our brave service members were being treated, and when they wanted those religious items," Trump said at the signing ceremony. "These were great, great people. These are great soldiers. They wanted those items. They were precluded from getting them."
It was a comment that raised eyebrows at the Pentagon ...
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for clarification ...

(23,339 posts)Evangelicals can't barge into patients' rooms uninvited and foist religious idols, icons, and ideas onto the patients.
I'm sure some of Trump's advisers would like to change this.

Hospital front desk:"No, reverend, you can't come in. Last time you were here you left anti-Catholic Jack Chick tracts in the rooms of every patient with an Irish, Italian, Polish, or Spanish surname. And here you are today with ANOTHER stack of them. Just, no."
Reverend: "Come see the oppression inherent in the system! Help, help! I'm being repressed!"
Although, admittedly, that type is unlikely to quote Python. They never forgave them for Life of Brian.

If the ACLU essentially says that Trumps 'Religious Liberty' EO is a bs photo-op, than it is. If there was truly a 1st Amendment problem they would have stepped in and pushed to have it changed because that's what they do.
