Does anyone know the details of how they managed to pacify the far right...

... enough to get the AHCA passed without alienating too many moderates? How was this bill better (for the Repubs' purposes) than the last one?

The question is, how did they get a couple of moderates to sign on? Horse heads in their beds?

It doesn't matter if the Senate "fixes" it or whether they've got campaign funds. If they live in a moderate district, their votes in favor of this travesty can not be erased. I should think they would have realized that.

They went after even MORE Medicaid funding (now $880 B over 10 years).

And they put in a "waiver" program so that each state can vote to "opt out" of certain coverage requirements, specifically pre-existing conditions. By doing so they allow insurance companies to offer "empty plans" that are cheaper than the ACA but cover next to nothing if you actually get really sick.

Then they brought in enough moderates to pass this giant kidney stone of a bill by adding $8B more to the "high risk" pools for states that allow insurance to deny regular plans to everyone with a pre-existing (pre-death now) condition. This is over 5 years with nothing promised past those 5 years (basically the cost of an aircraft carrier).

required Obamacare coverage is what brought the Freedom Caucus onboard, that essentially repeals Obamacare in red states and any state where republicans have control like in my state of Florida.

There is no such thing as a moderate republican. People calling themselves that sold out for an 8 billion bandaide for a problem that runs over $200 billion, providing affordable coverage for people with pre existing condition.

Under Trumpcare, in certain states, having an issue like high blood pressure that is normal could be viewed as having a pre existing condition that drives up premium rates. And please don't grow old, because then insurers can really come after you in some states.
