Hillary Clinton Bringing Out Mens Scary, Spitty Rage Strokes Again, By Existing. What A Bitch!

Second, there’s an odd strain of people — mostly men — who can’t let go of the desire to ritually punish and humiliate Hillary Clinton, even more than they already have. They have many reasons for this, and they are all as poorly stated and transparent as the above.

She apologized to Barack Obama like an errant daughter. She apologized to all of us and broke my fucking heart. And they want her to do it again and again and again, demanding she simultaneously scourge herself and disappear.

Nothing disgustingly misogynistic and terrifyingly, spittle-flyingly woman-hating about these men.

28. Yes, I do though in Gore's case the timing ws different - and there were differences

In the case of Gore, he initially was praised for graciously conceding a race he likely knew he had won when the Supreme Court intervened. He left the country and worked preparing his climate change stuff. When he returned in 2002, he was treated terribly by the mainstream Democrats -- his crimes: 1) He was angry (!) 2) he had gotten fat (!) and 3) he had grown a beard.

While true that he did not have either the Russians or the FBI investigating him --- he had Bill Clinton deciding that the weekend before the convention was when he should go on national TV to speak of how, after Monica, he was getting his personal life back together. Seriously does anyone think this helped?

In the case of Kerry, he had the swiftboat veteran liars getting endless media attacking him -- and as each charge was disproved, they moved on to the next charge -- the book, with its hundreds of allegations - some contradicting each other was like a cluster bomb. They received at least as much coverage as the wikileak stuff - and much of the coverage was sympathetic to the liars. Not to mention, the media condoned for the most part the purple heart bandaids.

The Comey letters were wrong, but it was HRC's missteps on the emails that were the basis - which while not illegal, were certainly not to her credit. In Kerry's case the reason was 2 fold -- one was that he protested the Vietnam War, which is to his credit AND because his real service record as a war hero contrasted in his favor compared to Bush.

In addition, 2004 was a much harder year to run than either 2000 or 2016. Remember Bush was in the 60s in approval ratings in 2003.

As to no anger afterwards, I remember that DU and Daily Kos trashed Kerry for months. Not just for losing or being a bad candidate, but as a person and politician. There was also a whisper campaign, from Daily Kos, that attacked Kerry saying that Harry Reid and the others in Senate leadership were angry that Kerry would position himself as A , not the, Democratic leader. Even Bill Clinton spoke negatively of both Kerry and Gore in 2005/2006 contrasting them as not being as strong fighting the rw as he was.

I would say that compared to Gore, Hillary is getting far more criticism on her campaign. She is also NOT getting as much support for being potentially the next nominee. Likely because there is a very strong case that he actually won that a very large percent of the population accepts. In addition, in early 2001, no one had any idea how much consequence there would be to Bush being President. However, once that was clear - after 911 and in the run up to Iraq - when Gore returned the mainstream of the party attacked him.

Compared to Kerry, I think the response is more polarized. There are FAR more people defending her and attacking anyone who says that she made mistakes -- either with the email or her campaign (ie not visiting Wisconsin). With Kerry, there was a period in the wake of the election where the only positive threads on anything for Kerry were in DU JK. I KNOW how much that safe space was appreciated by me and others. I can assure you that Kerry got as little respect on the main forums as Clinton.

At this point, there are STILL some in the media, here and elsewhere who want Hillary to lead the efforts against Trump. While HRC had many in the media who were tough on her, she also had many people who were there for her in 1992, 2008, and 2016 - far more than Kerry had in 2004. At this point, it is when THEY push that maybe she should run again (even though she is on record as a no) or when they position her as the one to lead, that there is push back from people who think we need new leadership. (Not to mention, there is a fight for the heart of the party that also means that Sanders is treated far more negatively than Dean, the closest counterpart I can think of from 2004.

ALL of us are hurt, devastated by where the US is now. Almost all of us voted for HRC, canvassed or phone banked for HRC, and never really thought the country would elect Trump. Just as many in 2004 blamed Kerry, who took on a long shot race and had there been a reasonable number of voting machines in Ohio cities would have won for Bush still being in office. For many, it was oddly that they had begun to trust that he could win and they had been impressed ... until he lost. With Clinton losing to Trump, the same thing is happening to her --- and it is a measure of how terrible Trump is -- that the intensity of the blame given to Clinton is both strong and hurts those who have long liked her.

61. Kerry was swiftboated for two months, Hillary was swiftboated for 25 years

And while Kerry did receive some criticism, he wasn't personally attacked and trashed and blamed and accused of losing because of his personal "flaws" as Hillary is being pilloried.

Night and day difference in the treatment she received and continues to receive from her enemies and from people supposedly on her side.

64. Kerry was attacked since 1971, when he protested

That is why he lost a race in 1972 where he was far ahead until Chuck Colson et al smeared him as badly as the liars did in 2004. This when he was a 29 vet dealing with everything he experienced in Vietnam. Once he was in the Senate, within a year, he took the job of investigating whether the Contras were involved in drug and gun running -- this was 1985/1986 -- when the Clintons actually had no problem with the Contras. He was smeared then AND his life was repeatedly threatened, but he continued.

His subcommittee developed the entire "Contra" side of Iran/Contra -- and he had very very few allies in Congress when doing so. Only when one of the planes crashed, providing proof was he believed. He was then EXCLUDED from the big Senate/House investigation, which gave immunity to many involved. Sooo, he turned to investigating BCCI, which was the Pakistani bank that was used to launder that money. He found that BCCI was a major player in transferring international crime money - including that of non state terrorist. It was Bin Laden's bank. However, they had put both big money Democrats and Republicans on the board of their US affiliated bank, so Kerry was asked by EVERY BIG Democrat you could name to stop his investigation. He stopped only when they took his subcommittee away and he was without subpoena power. So, he took everything to NYC DA Morgenthau, who closed down BCCI. Needless to say, through all of that he was attacked by everyone.

Kerry was attacked - in fact heavily by those allied with Clinton - with the attack that he did not fight back against the liars. (forgetting that Bill Clinton whined that Kerry spoke of Vietnam too much) Even Bill Clinton made that accusation -- and the reason was strategic, their argument was that ONLY THE CLINTONS KNEW HOW TO BEAT THE RW and that Hillary Clinton was far too vetted to be successfully attacked. (The worst part of the argument is that it suggests that Kerry should have known that his service could be a negative, even though his fitness reports were uniformly excellent and he earned two very prestigious medals.)

Not to mention, he actually ran a race that did far better than what was expected given that the economy was pretty good and many people were bonded to him because of 911. He ran a high road campaign that would have won had there been enough voting machines in Ohio cities. Yet he was attacked.

75. I think they were different, but no less real

I think the attacks on Hillary Clinton were obviously better known - she was First Lady. They also were more varied and many were completely weird. The attacks on Kerry were more the result of him repeatedly working against what he saw was corruption or a bad war. He was attacked because he actively was fighting the right wing. The attacks DID get personal - and many went mainstream especially when he fought a popular President Reagan, whose administration helped the Contras. Though he has always been the same thoughtful serious man with a strong sense of morality and integrity, Newsweek mocking his (later proven to be true) Contra report calling him a "randy conspiracy nut".

Not to mention, we were told for years that Hillary could not be swiftboated. In case you forgot, here is a link from DU saying just that.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3458460

So, which is it? She was immune to attacks because they had all been used or the cumulative effect was devastating?

the last Prez election.
Those of is not ensconced in Brooklyn, but raising money in the trenches saw it coming. We had to bypass the DNC to get money to candidates.
Wisconsin & Michigan tried to tell them too.

There were so many ways it could have turned out differently. Maybe Comey still would have sealed the deal...but even that the Dems could have made a quick obvious comeback response. We always Need one team for offense...getting the message out, and one for defense.

29. Yes. This one does feel more permanent, too. That's why staying in power is important.

The GOP understands that and fights for power, even their fringe (or especially their fringe). Democrats have no problem with giving away all their power and getting nothing in return.

I agree that they know Hillary won. They still hate Bill Clinton for beating Daddy Bush, and they hate Obama winning in a way they could not deny, so they found other ways to deny him. They know Gore won, too.

They know all of it about Russia, too. They want the power of the office and they will get it any way they can. We just give it away. Sigh.

I'm so sick of this hate and double standard. I'm still waiting for all the criticism and vitriol and analysis of blame for all the umpteen Republican male candidates who failed to beat Donald Trump in the primaries, and demands that they never show their faces in public again. And what about Sanders? Where's the book about how bad his campaign was that he lost by millions of votes to a woman? Why can't he just accept the fact that people just didn't like him? And why doesn't he just go away? Loser! Complainer! (blaming his loss on a woman DNC chair who apparently single-handedly caused millions of people not to vote for him.)

It's because they're men. When a man loses an election he should keep his dignity. When a woman loses (even though she got 3 million more votes), it's all because of her and the "bad" campaign she ran.

It was disgraceful. They should all be hanging their heads in shame.

I watched their faces on election night when the realization dawned that Trump would actually win the election. These so-called journalists thought that Hillary would win easily. They thought they were being all pure and ethical and objective by "scrutinizing" her. What they did was skew the public's perception so badly Trump was elected.

The media owns it more than any other group. They own it and I will never forget or forgive. Democracy depends on a free and competent press. We don's have one any more.

47. I've been getting

a kick out of how bold MSNBC and especially CNN have been since #45* first took office in January. Correct me if I'm wrong, but where was this hard-hitting reporting against him during the GE and the GOP primaries? Almost all I heard about were "emails" (even though she did nothing illegal there) and "Benghazi", and less about #45*'s lack of political experience and expertise, as well as his own controversies such as Trump University and the housing discrimination. It's hard for me to have sympathy for CNN and MSNBC as #45* has been slandering them and blocking them from some of his events.

71. FWIW Rachel, Hayes, O'Donnell etc did hard-hitting reporting before election

CNN trying to be "fair and balanced" before. Took Trump calling them "fake news" to get them to wake up.

I share your anger and frustration w behavior of mainstream tv and cable news propping up Trump and going after HRC over nothing before the election,

25. and humiliate Hillary Clinton

I don't think that Hillary Clinton has ever felt humiliated from those attacks, she is too big for them to feel humiliated by petty stupidity from the right.

Her apologies were made to apiece the media, to stop them, and to stay politically correct, which I wish she had not. There comes a time when someone like her, who has no reason to apologize should just tell everyone to "f u c k off".

It is important to understand that republicans like to say barbaric things all the time, and when they do apologize they blame someone else for the foot in the mouth. To them it is "mission accomplished", their base heard the barbaric comment and they will believe it, on top of that, their base will never hear the apology sooo..."f u c k YOU" republicans.

27. I would like to know what their parents were like

There's something deeply suspicious about such irrational misogyny. Did they grow up in a disfunctional family. Were one or both parents drunks. Was the father absent or an abuser? Was the mother emotionally and verbally an abuser? A victim of such abuse? Were the kids taught respect with a leather belt all too often? Not saying this is an excuse. But there are causes and conditions for misogyny.

Hey I grew up in a disfunctional family. But eventually, we're supposed to grow up and try to be better people.

32. Not to be all broad-brush or anything, but in school smart kids get bullied, & that goes double ...

...for smart girls. In America. Land of the free and home of the brave, and all you pointy headed intellectuals can stop pretending to be better than the rest of us by your very existence and just stfu.

Germany elects a woman with a doctorate in Physics to be Chancellor -- America humiliates our equivalent candidate and sends Ivanka Airhead Good Daughter Trump to go sit next to the Chancellor and speak very very softly, while her Daddy ...never mind.

37. This is so true and so relevant to how Hillary Clinton was treated.

I was one of those smart girls. Once I got out of my rural high school and went to college, I never looked back. There's a whole world of successful, happy, intellectually curious people out here. I like it here.

I feel like the dumb mean kids from middle school - the ones who mocked smart people and reveled in their spiteful ignorance - somehow took over the country.

If that sounds elitist, too bad. Successful civilizations are those that honor intelligence and enlightenment.

about people tell you to get out of your own country, is actually their economic anxiety, else you're playing identity politics.

53. Or something

telling me to get out of my country is as bad as telling you to get back in the kitchen. It's about putting people in their place and punishment for getting too uppity, not just economic anxiety. We as liberal Democrats can do something about the economic issues. We don't stand much of a chance when it's racial and gender issues.

They probably don't like competing against women for jobs. And we all know how they feel about competing with minorities.

I wanted Hillary to be president and Dems to win a majority in the Senate. It's very frustrating that she's not. The other side thinks they are fighting the good fight against diversity and feminism. As if those are things to fight against.

34. "Women always have to apologize"

from the same article:

Nobody yet has been able to point me to another instance of a candidate apologizing for losing, and that she did so stomped our hearts. Women always have to apologize. We apologize when someone bumps into us. We apologize when we bump into a table. We apologize when we’re right.

And as Wonkette goes on to point out, the apology is never enough.

The only way they could get Trump in the WH instead of Hillary, was to become traitors to their own country.

That she is a "thirty year career politician" (same as some guy he favors). Her arrogance? Yeah, as if she was uppity and didn't "know her place". Ugh. And he thinks he is a feminist and progressive. Oy vey.

I mean, what horrible thing did she even do - run for president?

There were a few mistakes made in her campaign, but who has ever run a perfect campaign?

It's ridiculous for anyone to expect any sort of apology at all.
