House Democrat offers to hold town halls for Republicans

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.) said "if it takes a Democrat" to explain House Republicans' healthcare bill, he's willing to do it.

"Maybe a Democrat ought to go into every district where a Republican who supported TrumpCare won't hold a town hall meeting, and do it for them," he said during an interview on MSNBC.

"I think every Republican who voted for this thing ought to have to stand in front of their voters and explain it," Maloney said.

"And if it takes a Democrat to go in and do it for them for a while, I'll explain what's in this bill, and if he doesn't like it, he should stand up and explain it himself."

Absolutely! This is an opportunity for the Dems to fill the leadership gap the repubs have created by their decision to abdicate all responsibility for effective, sane governance.

I totally agree.

If enough OPEN town halls took place (no 'uglican registration needed) we could overwhelm the paid-for operatives that hand out right-wing/Drump parephenalia (probably paid for by one of Durmp's profitable non-profits).

Even the Kocks will pull back their suckers when they understand that their profits are taking a hit.

do their work, and whatever Rep fails to turn up, spread it all over the district what a chicken little he is, and that the nearby Dem will turn up, ideally with the Rep's potential Dem challenger.

An email I got last night:

"65,000 NY19 constituents stand to lose their healthcare, 300,000 more with pre-existing conditions will be at risk of either paying skyrocketing premiums or lose their coverage, our seniors will face an age tax, Planned Parenthood will be defunded and women's health issues will be treated as excuses to jack up insurance costs.

John Faso's vote to repeal the ACA was morally bankrupt. He owes us answers.

We're inviting NY19 constituents to a Healthcare Town Hall in Kingston this Monday night from 6.30-9pm at the Senate Garage: 4 N Front St. We extended an invitation to John Faso as well, he hasn't responded.

But Sean Patrick Maloney has.

Congressman Maloney will come to our town hall Monday whether or not Faso decides to uphold his pledge to be a part of open, public town halls (a pledge, much like his promise to protect healthcare, he has not upheld.)

Sign up for our Town Hall here. And please sign up on Facebook.

Before our Healthcare Town Hall make sure to sign up for our Spring Canvass - talking to voters and registering new voters in NY19 became that much more important following Faso's unconscionable vote to repeal the ACA."

The group that is sponsoring this is NY19 Votes. A lot of us will be out canvassing with them this Sunday throughout parts of the NY 19th CD. From one to 6:00PM. You don't need to live in the district to participate, and some training is provided:
