Stephen Colbert to be investigated by FCC after 'offensive' Trump joke

Friday, May 5, 2017

Stephen Colbert’s remarks about Donald Trump are going to be investigated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), according to its chairman.

On Thursday, Ajit Pai said the body had received several complaints after Colbert said: “The only thing [Trump’s] mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s cock holster,” on his Monday night show.

In an interview with the radio host Rich Zeoli, Pai said: “I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints, and we’ve gotten a number of them, we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the supreme court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action.”

The insults against Donald Trump were in retribution for the latter’s treatment of CBS host John Dickerson.

On Wednesday, Colbert said he would change “a few words that were cruder than they needed to be” but confirmed that he would still do it again if he had the chance.

Colbert should demand a full and complete accounting of all of Drumpf's sexual contacts in the former Soviet Union.

At the drop of a hat. But since Colbert did, they're crying for investigations and firings. Keep playing the free speech card, Trumpers. You're playing a very dangerous game here, and you'll lose every time.

Colbert is the #1 late night show because of the fake pundit monologues slamming trump that he does (as we all know about). Trump wants to suppress all the dissent. Well, DT, Colbert has that free speech thing on his side.

It's his supporters. They don't seem to get that free speech works for both sides. They think they have a monopoly on free speech because they've been suppressed by the "liberal media" and liberal education. But what they don't get - and will learn the hard way - is that free speech works both ways. We have a right to say what we feel as much as they have a right to say what they feel. If they want to play that game, it is the equivalent of playing chicken on a Los Angeles freeway. They'll lose every time.

18. FCC Considers Fining Stephen Colbert Over Controversial Trump Joke
Sun May 7, 2017, 08:59 AM
May 2017

The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission revealed Friday that the agency is considering whether to fine Stephen Colbert over the Late Show host's controversial joke about Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

On Monday's Late Show, Colbert quipped that "the only thing [Trump's] mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's cock holster." The joke drew accusations of homophobia, a viral #FireColbert campaign and FCC complaints against Colbert.

In an interview Friday, FCC chairman Ajit Pai told a Philadelphia radio station, "I have had a chance to see the clip now and so, as we get complaints — and we've gotten a number of them — we are going to take the facts that we find and we are going to apply the law as it’s been set out by the Supreme Court and other courts and we’ll take the appropriate action."

Pai added, "Traditionally, the agency has to decide, if it does find a violation, what the appropriate remedy should be. A fine, of some sort, is typically what we do," Variety reports.

Meaning, if a Trump supporter said what Colbert did, would we be calling for that person to be fired?

Ann Coulter, for instance, says crap like that all the time.
