Eric Trump Claimed Funding Came from RussiaAuthor James Dodson described to WBUR a conversation he had with Eric Trump in 2014 while playing golf:
So when I got in the cart with Eric, Dodson says, as we were setting off, I said, Eric, whos funding? I know no banks because of the recession, the Great Recession have touched a golf course. You know, no ones funding any kind of golf construction. Its dead in the water the last four or five years. And this is what he said. He said, Well, we dont rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia. I said, Really? And he said, Oh, yeah. Weve got some guys that really, really love golf, and theyre really invested in our programs. We just go there all the time. Now that was three years ago, so it was pretty interesting.

I asked my friend if he now regretted spreading the Guccifer and Wikileaks crap last year because so much of it was selectively edited and misleading and he really doesn't have the least bit of shame about it. He's like to overturn the will of the voters but calls HRC arrogant. It was a bit mind blowing to listen to that crap.

(56,828 posts)What we're going to see is Trump holdings in several shell companies and they're tied to overseas holdings and then the overseas holdings have different shell companies and then beneath that, you may start to get into companies with connections to Russia. The path won't be clear and it will be easy to call any ties to Russia "Fake News" by Trump and his minions because it will be a confusing path and twisted path to get to Russia and then to Putin.

Theo was an actor, folk singer, activist, ethnicist ("I speak 35 languages, 17 of which are Yiddish" . One New Year's, after the shouts of "Happy New Year" wound down, he told me "grab your guitar, we are going to sing Russian songs." So I grabbed my guitar, and we looked for an empty meeting room in the hotel. For nearly an hour, Theo Bikel and I did duets of Russian songs and our only audience was my wife and two Charleston, SC, janitors who said, "We don't know what y'all are singing'. but you sure know how to sing it!"

(54,370 posts)Theo did a big concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC for his 85th birthday. There was a reception for "friends" prior to the show, and I met a bunch of my heroes from the sixties for the first time (and barely missed a few others who showed up later). Peter Yarrow, Tom Paxton. My daughter was getting on my case because I was so excited about meeting "that Paxton guy." THE Tom Paxton! I missed meeting Alan Alda (didn't bother me too much) and Arlo Guthrie (bothers me to this day!).

(81,238 posts)Theodore Bikel was one of the most versatile creative artists I can name.
DFW
(54,370 posts)His singing voice was legendary, of course, but from acting with Bogart in "The African Queen" to the submarine captain in "The Russians Are Coming" to various parts in such diverse productions as Dynasty to Fiddler On The Roof to Law And Order, he could do it ALL. Plus he was involved in stage productions in Poland and Israel well into his eighties. Just a monumental talent.

(54,370 posts)That show came after I was spending most of my time in other countries. I'm sure I haven't seen 98% of what Theo did. I'll always carry the memory that there was that ONE time when he took that one hour to play just with me.

(81,238 posts)It's a WUNNNNNNderful episode. For all kinds of reasons, but in particular because of the character Mr. Bikel created.

(47,419 posts)How wonderful to sing duets with him. Sounds like a great experience.
DFW
(54,370 posts)Tamara used to tell me that she sometimes accompanied him (she was a concert pianist) for small performances, and she was used to her husband transforming into Theo Bikel, the legend, while performing, and then back into "her husband" when the music was done.
One time, after the thing at Carnegie Hall, Theo told me that some friends were meeting at some place afterward. I was pretty tired, but I went anyway. He was there alright, but since I got there late, there were no seats left near him. I tried to get closer, but a snooty guy (whose name will not be mentioned here because we ADORE his wife) tried to shoo me away as the seats near Theo were only for his "inner circle." Then Theo saw me and told everyone to squish up and make room for me to sit beside him. Now THAT was an honor.
He sounds like he was a very down-to-earth authentic person. You were fortunate to have known him.

he wrote a piece about trump - operation trump - sounds like the russians told trump's team how to beat establishment GOP without the money - learn talk radio and most of the russian trolling piggybacked it
Throughout 2014, the three fed Trump strategy memos and political intelligence. I listened to thousands of hours of talk radio, and he was getting reports from me, Nunberg recalled. What those reports said was that the GOP base was frothing over a handful of issues including immigration, Obamacare, and Common Core. While Jeb Bush talked about crossing the border as an act of love, Trump was thinking about how high to build his wall.
