(56,848 posts)"This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value indeed exists only insofar as it sustains and inflates him."

(56,848 posts)and, Krauthammer was one of the few "never Trump" Republicans out there. Unfortunately, the "never Trump" crowd seemed to be mostly Republican pundits and not actual politicians.

(67,782 posts)....they're also blind patriotic zealots, and when the evidence becomes compelling even they will turn on trump.
maxrandb
(17,282 posts)but they are NOT "Patriotic Zealots". That term would imply that they have some "love of country".
They will only turn on Trump when their own political power is in jeopardy.
Don't for a second think that they love 'Murika. They only love the largess they can grift from it.

(3,299 posts)tRump is still a great asset to them as he is deflecting a lot of criticism that should go equally to them. They need him to sign every crappy bill they send him as long as they can. I also don't think they fear the 2018 elections because gerrymandering will protect their sorry asses (in the House).
Or should I say, in regards to the GOPers, "a greed." Greed is all that they are about.

(790 posts)Liberal Republicans. No such a animal exists today! In fact they were more liberal than some Dems.

(5,730 posts)thing. Now, we are in a political civil war. Liberal Republican is dwad. Lindsey Graham used to be as conservative as they could get. Now, he is one of the few w any sense of moderation. He didn't change. The political spectrum scewed further right.

(8,554 posts)whenever they're quoting one of his tweets. It could be the new "presidential" vocabulary designation, so we'll always know who it is that they're referencing.
