I wonder how much more battering that the US can take. By 2018 we will have another extra Justice and loads of ultra rightwing judges on the courts. Health care will be a shambles most likely. If ACA does survive it will be shot full of holes and barely functional. And with a Cabinet that is filled with saboteurs meant to dismantle our institutions. Who knows what damage will already have been done.
I do not believe Trump is gong anywhere. And the media is pretty much worthless now. The right wing will own even more of it. So we will have to fight on social media and locally.
We are only in the fiirst 100 days. And we are still moving backward in so many policy areas.

(68,539 posts)a revolution...it won't. As usual...the Greens ET AL have enabled the GOP by attacking Democrats...yeah it's going to be bad and will take years to fix...years before we can get single payer or a $15.00 minimum...we were so close...but snatched defeat from the jaws of victory...that being said we must fight with every ounce of strength we have to defeat the evil that is the modern Republican Party...the next generation is counting on us.

(17,235 posts)This is not a situation where you should expect instant or fast results. Investigations take time and patience is required. There appears to be a ton of evidence that will justify this position. We are moving forward, maybe at a snail's pace, but still moving forward.

(24,402 posts)This is just the mess that we were left after 2016- the inevitable consequence of some people voting badly or not at all (or some people not BEING ABLE to vote) while the Republicans showed up in full force to make Donald Trump pretty much the most powerful person in the country, if not the world. The only things we can do is mobilize hard to win one or both chambers of Congress in 2018 so that Republicans lose the capacity to create any more legislative mischief and serve as a check on Trump. And if we win the Senate (which is sort of a longshot, I know) before any additional SCOTUS Justices die or retire, we can implement the "McConnell Rule" and wait until the next President to consider any replacements. After all, Republicans felt that eight Justices was enough for the remainder of Barack Obama's Presidency. Democrats wouldn't necessarily HAVE to consider or confirm any of Trump's federal judges either.
