All travelers (including U.S. citizens) should be advised, you many encounter:
- Illegal arrests
- Racial profiling
- Demands to show your papers
If your rights have been violated because of SB4, call the ACLU of Texas at 1-888-507-2970

(16,780 posts)Texas. Hit Texas where it hurts, in the pocketbook. As with North Carolina, Texas should be shunned. A monumental task, I know.
I will be god damned if I have to show papers anywhere I go in this country. My Mexican Grandfather would be enraged abut this if he were still alive.

(10,494 posts)We do have some really wonderful people here mixed with some total dumbass assholes. I tell them if they don't want government they should move to Sierra Leon. I am tired of their making us look bad. If you find that Louie Gohmert is your spokesperson you should know that you are crazy and check yourself in to a mental hospital. Oh wait, you won'the have insurance!

(81,179 posts)Like Indiana, too. After Mike Pence signed that sneaky-ass "my religion trumps your rights" bill - IN SECRET. Behind closed doors. When he was governor.
The boycott of Indiana caused an absolute economic horror show when the people became outraged, the publicity was terrible, and corporations and conventions of all kinds headed for the exits. Cost the state economy hundreds of millions of dollars. But that handful of nuns and friars who were invited to pose for photos with the governor - they were happy.

(146,281 posts)Sometimes, it cannot be avoided, but when I must pass through that state, I do it as expeditiously and cautiously as possible.
While I'm sure there are many wonderful people in Texas, I will not be there to meet them. Sorry.

(26,605 posts)but will skip the family reunion in San Angelo. Would love to visit our sane relatives who have come to our side courtesy of cheeto, but El Paso is as far as we go, and back to NM.

(66,307 posts)I went back for my grandfather's funeral in 2007. Haven't been back since. If things keep going the way they are, I don't expect I'll ever return.
There are places in this country that are far less batshit crazy, and where I live is one of them.
Happy Trails, Texas...
See you never...
