I don't buy the Trump was the unknowing dupe of a cabal of pro-Russian manipulators. If so, why was Trump so afraid to say anything negative about Putin or Russia during the campaign? I don't believe anyone had the ability to keep Trump that on message unless Trump himself was similarly motivated to stay on message.

Without having intent, it would be almost impossible to find that many with the Russian connections. Think they all gave him the KGB secret handshake at their first meeting to signal that Vlad sent them.

Trump thought his multiple lines of connection would mask a direct link to Putin and the oligarchs.

He didn't care because Flynn was doing exactly as he'd been told to do. They weren't concerned with Flynn's treason because they're nose deep in it themselves. I believe they thought they could divert press attention elsewhere and to some extent they were successful until the fateful WaPo story. After that it couldn't be ignored. I still think they'll try to make Flynn the fall guy for the whole thing but Sally Yates put a hitch in that get-a-long. SAD!

It should have triggered a freeze on security briefing and a review of everyone who had contact with Flynn to make sure they were not also compromised.

As he talked about that with Rachel Maddow, I was thinking, "Of course the NORMAL procedure was not followed - everyone in the Trump cadre is complicit and compromised. They could NOT allow in depth investigations since it would have revealed their links to Russia!"

For Trump to find that many Republicans to pack into the white house who have Russian ties is remarkable. I don't see how it can possible be coincidental.
