Chris Hayes: We're in uncharted territory. Kasparov: It's been well charted in Russia, Turkey...

Found this via a retweet from Malcolm Nance:

Kasparov's tweets there:

To the contrary, this territory has been very well charted in Russia, Turkey and Venezuela, to name a few. Trump is reading from that map.

Autocrats grab power wherever they can. Like the Syrian missile strike, it's Trump seeing what he can do without checks & balances.

The shock people are expressing is another example of what I wrote about in February, of assuming that traditions & conventions are laws.

People always say, "Can he do that? Doesn't he realize how bad it looks?" Autocrats don't care how it looks, only if it adds to their power.

There must be an independent investigation of Trump's Russia ties and his finances if separation of powers and rule of law are to matter.
