Dismissal may turn anti-Trump wave into tsunami

By Dana Milbank
May 9 at 9:18 PM

... President Trump performed his latest impersonation of a Third World strongman, firing FBI Director James B. Comey late Tuesday .. as it was becoming clear that the FBI probe into Trump’s ties to Russia, which Comey was overseeing, was becoming a bigger problem for Trump ...

The sacking brought immediate .. comparisons to.. Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre .. The institutions he is assaulting daily are stronger than he thinks ...

... Trump’s clumsy assaults on democratic norms are being resoundingly rejected. The Cook Political Report is already talking about the possibility of a “midterm wave” against Republicans, and it shifted ratings in 20 House races .. in Democrats’ direction. At town-hall meetings, House Republicans .. badgered by the White House into voting for “Trumpcare” .. are .. backpedaling ...

This president may think himself unassailable, but Americans are seeing him for what he is: a tin-pot tyrant.

Those who aren't turned out in 2018 had better think long and hard before they oppose impeachment. Foamfollower May 2017 #3

that they *could* lose their seats over this.

Of course, lots of Senators aren't up for re-election until 2020 or 2022. And some Congressional districts are gerrymandered all to hell.

But anywhere that a Republican got less than 60%, we ought to be able to put the fear-of-god into that sonofabitch.
