With a huge segment of our party wed to the "Trump's election is 100% Comey's fault. He needs to be fired," and a substantial percentage of that segment wed to "Comey did it on purpose," the door was left wide open for Trump to turn to his base and say "I fired him for not seeking an indictment against Hillary," THE F'ING BATTLE CRY OF THE DEPLORABLES, and then fend off any REAL consequences by pointing directly at us and saying "How can you criticize me? I just did exactly what you demanded."

Maybe we should have thought twice before turning the guy who was actively investigating the Russia-Trump connection into a villain.
