UPDATED 11:56 AM EDT Jul 05, 2012
George Zimmerman, the man accused in the death of Trayvon Martin, was granted $1 million bond Thursday morning.
In his ruling, Judge Kenneth Lester scoffed at the notion Zimmerman was confused at the time of his first bond hearing.
Lester said Zimmerman was "manipulating the system to his own benefit."
Zimmerman spent the 4th of July holiday behind bars after the judge could not come to a decision on whether to grand him bond at a hearing Friday.
Lester said he considered everything he heard at Zimmerman's bond hearing last Friday, and would make a decision Thursday. He decided $1 million was a fair amount.

(51,022 posts)one thing is very clear. Zimmerman's credibility with this Judge is nil. It seems to me had Florida decisions not stipulated that, barring a Capital case or a clear threat to the community, a defendant is entitled to 'reasonable' bail, the Judge might well have refused Zimmerman this time.
An interesting order to read for sure.

(2,061 posts)I certainly hope there's no furrihiners taking his spot on laundry or license plates machines. He might have to stand his ground while people that don't fully support the complex bill (including its authors and the attorneys that have to support it) use it against him if he decides to throw his weight around.
Not a problem George, pull out your secret neighborhood watch decoder ring and show the people he encounters who is enforcing the law now! It's a good thing he doesn't have a history of rash unprovoked decisions, yes???
I thought 100,000 W voters sent him money for his PP account so he has the 10% minimum to get out. He might not want to blow the moolah or he might feel safer in jail.
