What they know:
- Crosswords don't help
- There are only two things they are sure of:
- Drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day
- Read novels or watch stories about people where you can get lost in their world

(42,770 posts)don't get Alzheimers. Have often thought that a cure for cancer and Alzheimers won't start with doctors -
but will start with findings of people who are analyzing all the data of people who did or didn't get the diseases. As years pass, more and more data will be accumulated, which will help. What an amazing and fascinating career that would be (if you are an analytical type that is)
the novel reading makes common sense to me though - sure it must be using a different part of the brain to feel like you are in another's world.
To answer your question - there may not be enough people who drink good tea or not drink good tea to draw a conclusion ? Imagine there are zillions of behaviors they haven't even thought of looking at (gathering on study questionnaires).
Reminds me - isn't Dipshit cutting NIH funding?

(42,770 posts)they come out with is not "avoids politics". I know this is way out there - but have often thought about what makes some people love contests/sports/games and some people don't care who wins. I really think there's a distinct divide. Love playing games and have always been so curious when people would rather get a root canal than play a game of some sort.

(20,577 posts)I was lucky enough to have gone to a wonderful doctor after being poisoned by organophosphate pesticide exposure. He had me read a short book and then write a book review. It was an encompassing mental exercise. I would recommend doing this for anyone who is feeling mentally disorganized.
It took me 3 months to read the book and write the review as I needed to sleep a lot - common for brain injuries.
I have kept doing it and now they are published.
