Rosenstein, it seems, dislikes being a political prop.

Trump's deputy attorney general reportedly threatened to quit after being painted as the mastermind behind Comey's firing

While President Donald Trump's decision to fire FBI director James Comey came as a shock for many, one of the alleged architects of the dismissal was also reported to have been surprised after the hammer came down.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who wrote a three-page memorandum detailing the reasons behind his recommendation for Comey's dismissal on Monday, was painted as the main arbiter of the decision.

Trump had asserted that he acted based on Rosenstein's and Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recommendations.

But as Rosenstein was thrust into the spotlight shortly after news of Comey's dismissal broke, he was reported to be taken aback and even threatened to resign, according to an unnamed person close to the White House who was cited by The Washington Post.

According to multiple news reports on Wednesday night, Trump himself had grown increasingly angry and frustrated with Comey over his handling of the Russia investigation. The New York Times reported that Trump was also bothered by his inability to gain assurances of loyalty from the now-former FBI director.

He was probably asked to evaluate Comey and found out he was used by trump.

Par for the course, Rosenstein. Best to know who you're getting in bed with.

He doesn't understand their mindset or why they do the jobs they do -- that there is often a sense of honor and patriotism, two characteristics he has never possessed.

I just remembered: before he left office, Barack Obama said he parceled out all the intel they already possessed among all the (17?) agencies, so that no one would ever be able to "just come in with a burn bag" and destroy it all. I hope Comey did likewise.

When the guys under investigation ask you to critique the director of the FBI -- who just happens to be leading the investigation-- you might think twice before putting anything in writing...

Comey's dismissal. Nowhere in his memo did he state Comey should be fired. Reprimanded yes not fired. This didn't go far enough for Trump and Sessions so Sessions had to issue his own memo calling for dismissal. Rosenstein is the Trump administration's patsy for this whole debacle. In retrospect when he was ordered to write the memo by Trump& Sessions, he probably should have just resigned. They're using Rosenstein to take the heat off Trump & Sessions , the person who actually called for Comey's dismissal.

And according to reports, he is angry. Acting on anger isn't smart. Taking a day or two to cool off is smart. Hopefully he will be smart and actually do the right thing here. Expose Trump for the manipulative shit he is.

Force Trump to fire him.

The blowback would be phenomenal.

Either that or name a special prosecutor and wait for Trump to fire him.

The blowback would be phenomenal.

Rosenstein was roundly held as an impartial DAG in his confirmation hearings. Let's see if he carries that mantle proudly, or if he succumbs to the thug purporting to be the POTUS.
