He claims Comey told him over dinner, while discussing Comey staying on in his job, that he wasn't under investigation.

Then, supposedly, Trump asked twice more in phone conversations, and got the same answer.

He also claims that he knew he wasn't under investigation anyway (yet he asked three times?) because when someone is under investigation, the FBI gives them a lot of documents about it.



Edit: On hearing it again, it seems he said when someone is under investigation, that person gives the FBI a lot of documents. Because the FBI doesn't believe in doing anything secret and wants everybody to have time to fire up the shredders.
