Why Are The Democrats So Respectful To Other Side?

How come it's perfectly acceptable for Drumpf to call Senator Schumer names via tweet, but Chuck does not come back with some of his own?

I realize that it's a fine line, between appearing to stoop to his level, and make immature statements. But on the other hand, why sit back and take it? Surely if his highness can essentially call Chuck a crybaby, there are lots of things Chuck could call the Orange man.

It's one thing for Drumpf to attack Colbert for his jokes, but it shows a complete lack of respect (not that he possesses any), to call a longtime Senator names. Hell, even "W," who I despised, never to my knowledge stooped to that level. Scary that "W" now looks mature and dignified compared to Drumpf.

Sometimes I wish our legislature was more like Britain's, where each side really spoke their minds, rather than couching everything with "My friend across the aisle." It's all hogwash, because every repub is looking out for themselves, it's not like 20-30 years ago when each side was willing to compromise and work together.

Perhaps it's time our side showed the other side the same amount of "no respect" they continue to show us and the majority of the American people.

I was raised in the south and know all about how to be a polite, Southern lady. I also know when and how to tell someone to fuck off and make it stick. They really need to figure that out.

Don't sink low into you absolutely have to. The GOP is the enemy and has the power and the leverage. It's important to be careful. They could pop off but at this point, I don't think it's helpful. This is going to be a long, drawn out thing whatever happens. Dems need to be forceful and fierce in presentation but why not be classy and dignified. If Schumer sinks to his level we are sunk. That's the reality. Fight on and don't give in.

Treating others with respect, whether or not they deserve it, is what grown-ups do.

There's a sports announcer from L.A. who used to say it's all about "SCOREBOARD."

It doesn't really matter how you get the win, only that you WIN. Despite being "cultural barbarians," the repubs are winning, and the Democrats are losing.

Now it's fine to say you're willing to lose, if the alternative is stooping to the other side's level. But clearly the high road does not work with the citizens of this country.

Should Charlie Brown be admired for continually wanting to kick the football? Or should Lucy be praised for pulling it away each and every time? In this country, it's the latter.

Democrats do not win by calling their political enemies scum, and rousing 45 % of the country to kill anything calling itself Republican.

Democrats win by having better ideas (at present any ideas at all), and by working harder, and by respecting our fellow citizens, and by keeping a civil tongue in our heads. Politics is not a football game on a muddy field, or a horse race, or a heavyweight boxing match.

Politics is not a game at all. It's the work of citizens of a democratic republic. It's work for grownups, for people with personal discipline, and public ethics. It's work for people with enough vision to see that if we divide the country with lies, those lies will catch up with us and bite us very hard in the ass.

If, every time they go low, we go high, we will win the war without losing our souls. And thanks to Mrs. Obama for her concise statement on what we stand for.

This is serious shit. We're talking about possible Treason, and now clearly Obstruction Of Justice. Taking the high road, and the slow route, has gotten us where? A minority position in the White House, Senate, House & Supreme Court.

Or it could just be that the majority of Americans are unintelligent degenerates, who get off on the snide remarks the other side makes. Perhaps they have the maturity of a high school student, so those attacks resonate, while our pitiful mature comebacks are looked upon as #SAD.

If the Democrats would put up a United front, there's strength in numbers. If one Democrat came out with a nasty attack, the media would pounce all over them. If several did, the media would likely cover it in a more supportive manner. They already do when it comes to Drumpf's mindless tweets attacking whomever he's angry at that day.

But those days are long gone. I don't think our senators should call Trump silly names but I am fully on board with our side calling him a liar when he lies and mocking him when he goes on a tirade.

-They don't give a crap about compromise, why should Democrats keep giving in?

The precious few loud voices of opposition (like Bernie) are so treasured and popular, it should be a no-brainer.
