Do they think that we don't know they are lying??

Every damn time they open their mouths, it is a lie. It is an important function when working for Donald Trump. Other than selling your soul and vowing undying loyalty, it may be the most important requirement.

But, it gets old. From one day to the next, the story changes as we watch the evolution of the Trumpian, lying sycophants, suck as Spicey, Pence, and the lady with the deep red lipstick with pearls...

After a while, nothing is believed. They have lost all credibility. It is not good for America.

There's also the numbing factor where if you say it enough some will accept it and others will just get tired of it and ignore that it's happening. I have a hope that people are gettting wise to it though.

If they can keep up with their blizzard of disinformation/lies, the idea is to bury everything under a blanket of bullshit. Until it's too much to clean up. They want to break the spirit, the will of resistance.

On edit: It's psychological "shock and awe"-- drop so many 100-megaton off-the-wall whoppers that the very reality of the United States is called into question.

To be this clueless, believe all the lies, in part because the RW noise machine tells them they should. They can't fathom why WE don't believe the lies.

The rest of us don't matter -- no one's enforcing anything; no one's punishing them for lying.

There's actually a pretty big contingent of pro-lying members of DU who argue that any punishment for lying is a violation of the 1st Amendment, so it's an up-hill battle to hold them accountable in any way.

Only if they admitted wrong-doing would they possibly be in any kind of trouble.

Also: "After a while, nothing is believed" is more or less their goal. The press will ALWAYS say "both sides do it" so they win just by showing that lying is going on.

We have no real chance until we can agree that lying is unacceptable.

who complains. America be damned, Trump doesn't give a fuck about this country, his shrinking base is the only audience Trump has and that lot will believe anything he tells them.

There's no consequences for lying. He's still the president. There is no penalty thus far that will change their behavior.

The idea is not to convince. It's to obfuscate and bully.

What are you (we, the Press, the Dems in govt) going to do about it? What can be done about it. Nothing. No mechanism exists to force them to tell the truth.

the Press, of course, could boycott the liars they way they did Conway.

I have a narcissistic mother who lies constantly. My brother says she does not know a lie from the truth. She lies even when she does not have to lie.

Sometimes, I can tell that she knows she is lying and is delighted about it. She seems to be thinking, "See what I can get away with?"

Other times, she is furious that we don't believe her. Those lies, the ones she wants people to believe, have a kernel of truth to them.

I have said this here many times: Don't pay attention to their words. They are meaningless. Look at their actions.
