Will Trump get away with it?

Trump has gotten away with a whole lot: bankruptcies, divorce, groping women, not paying people, etc. He is reasonably wealthy, (?) came out of nowhere to run for president. He was elected President of the United States. All along he has lied his way through everything. Will he get away with it now?. My opinion is no, but that is a hopeful no. During the Nixon Watergate Scandal, congress was willing to investigate. I am not sure that the Senate will allow it now. But hell, I don't know. Anything can happen.

He has set up the circumstances to work against him by repeatedly upsetting the intelligence community with his insults and by firing Comey. There has to be a bunch of FBI types who will be willing to stick their necks out by leaking very damaging information that will help bring Drumpf down.

I don't think they can let it go if tRump simply steps down or is impeached. Pence, McConnell, Ryan, etc have to be implicated as well.

the FBI is in super attack dog mode according to Nance and I believe European intel will start some big leaks or release tapes.

After that, they will feel free to get rid of him, if they think that will help them at the polls.

Also - getting circuit courts filled with young winger Federalist Society creeps.

The court issue just may be their fondest wish that is more doable than the others.

I think he would resign if he thinks impeachment is probable. I also think he will issue pardons to at least his family members and himself (I've been searching the internet and from what I read a president's power to pardon does not exclude himself) and then head on out to one of his properties. After that, who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians send someone to pay him a visit.

I believe that eventually he will be forced out of office, somehow. Right now the Republicans are circling the wagons - I think they are trying to push their agenda while they can, and they're afraid of losing the votes of the deplorable base (who still think Dolt 45 is teh awesome) - but at some point they'll have so much of Trump's shit on their shoes that they won't be able to scrape it off. That's when they'll stop defending him. It may be necessary to wait until after the 2018 election, but I watched Watergate unfold and for a long time feared nothing would be done about Nixon, even though the Democrats had the majority in Congress. The real reason he eventually went down was because a few GOPers like Howard Baker and even Barry Goldwater finally grew spines. I have some hope that will happen again, but probably not nearly as soon as we'd like.

the stiffing of his creditors, they all happened when he wasn't as front and center as he is now.

Among the many things he doesn't get is the degree of scrutiny a President receives. So what's happening now is qualitatively different.

Perhaps we should wait and see who resigns next from his administration, and who next is fired. At some point the Republican leadership will decide they want nothing more to do with him, that they'd prefer a President Pence. I'm not about to predict when that might happen, but hopefully it will at some point.

Now, I get that he has been told that it is different, but ..in spite of being told, he doesn't "get it." Consequently, he may still be thinking that he can indeed get away with it. Since republicans in congress are supporting him, why not? But I believe that they will dump him when the time is right. When they have no use for him, as has been said here and in other places.., than that is it.

He still thinks that being President is just another reality show. And that he can fire anyone at any time. I'm just waiting for him to try to fire a federal judge, or better yet one of the Supreme Court Justices.

It doesn't help that almost everyone around him coddles him, protects him from reality, assures him that he's always right, and yes, he is the smartest man in the room. I've never worked with someone as awful as he is, although I've had the occasional toxic co-worker. I don't understand why anyone would stay in such a situation. What could they possibly be getting from it?

People here like to think that he has Alzheimer's or some other dementia. I'd argue that he absolutely has no dementia. But he's a narcissist of enormous ignorance, which shows every time he opens his mouth. Unfortunately, too many of his supporters are about as ignorant as he is, so they'll continue to support him down to the bitter end. The rest of us? Those with more than a third grade knowledge of the world? We're all hoping desperately that this nightmare will end, and end soon.
