I am dying of curiosity to know what the Republicans are going to say when Trump & Co go down and we all know that is now inevitable.
Please allow me a bit of speculation as to what well be hearing from the GOP in the weeks to come
Sure, we heard Trump lie about literally everything from the size of the crowds at his inauguration to claiming that hed won the electoral college vote by a historical margin but we didnt realize he was a liar.
Yeah, we knew about the many lawsuits against Trump due to cheating workers out of their pay, his fake university scam, and the many accusations of sexual harassment /molestation but we never saw any reason to doubt his honesty and moral ethics.
Of course we read his inane and incoherent tweets, wherein he frequently lashed out at perceived enemies and displayed symptoms of extreme paranoia but it never occurred to us that he was mentally unstable.
Yes, we were aware that Trump has steadfastly and repeatedly refused to release his tax returns, but we had no reason to believe he was hiding anything.
Granted we did notice that Trump called every unfavourable poll and news story fake news but we dismissed it as being his unique style of presidentin.
Of course we heard the pussy grabbing remarks but we never thought they were indicative of a lack of good Christian values.
Needless to say, we saw Trump openly mock the disabled but we figured it was all in good fun and everyone would laugh along with him.
Okay, sure, weve watched as Trump has attempted to repeal and replace Obamacare with legislation that would leave millions of Americans without any healthcare coverage whatsoever but we were assured that the citizenry was totally happy with that state of affairs.
Without doubt, we knew that Trump was using taxpayers dollars to fund his golfing getaways every weekend, along with charging the taxpayers for entertaining foreign dignitaries at his personal club while pocketing the money but we didnt realize that those taxpayers would actually notice.
Yes, we were cognizant of the fact that Trump and his cohorts all have obvious and inexplicable ties to Russia but it never entered our minds that those ties meant anything nefarious.
We have noticed that while Trump has never said a single word against our sworn enemy, the Russians, he has never missed an opportunity to praise Putin and his tactics but we never imagined that such a position was indicative of being pro-Putin and anti-American.
Yes, we are aware that Trump invited Russian operatives to the White House for a meeting that barred the US press from attending but we had no cause to think that this represents anything secretive, or should give rise to speculation about where our pRresidents true fealty lies.
In summary, we Republicans are truly astounded that as things are turning out, our pResident the man we have supported, defended, and made a million excuses for looks more and more like a Putin ass-kisser whose entire administration is comprised of fellow Putin ass-kissers.
If only wed seen those red flags the ones so obvious, they can be seen from the nearest asteroid belt before we decided to put every effort into placing an ignorant, Russian-loving dumbass in the White House, we wouldnt be in the position of trying to come up with ludicrous excuses to explain why we did so.
Friendly advice to the GOP: Admit your wrongdoing, own up to the fact that a win was far more important than the well-being of your country, and accept responsibility for the fact that with malice aforethought you were willing to put a mentally-unhinged Putin Puppet in the Oval Office rather than see an extremely qualified female Democrat in the White House.
Until and unless you acknowledge what is now obvious, you will forever be known as the party that was willing nay, anxious to throw your country and your fellow Americans under the bus in order to assuage a foreign adversary, all in hopes of chalking-up a win on the political scoreboard.
What we now face as a country is the indisputable fact that while ONE of our political parties still stands by the Constitution and the rule of law, their friends across the aisle are more than happy to look the other way while their Russian-loving pResident embraces policies that are clearly abhorrent to Americans everywhere.
I, for one, look forward to hearing your excuses for doing so. Ive no doubt they will be, if nothing else, wildly entertaining.
"We had NO IDEA what was going on" is, in view of the in-your-face evidence, beyond laughable - the problem being that no one is laughing.

You know you're in an autocracy when following orders means committing crimes.
And we know that real patriots refuse such orders. Like Sally Yates did.

(17,096 posts)plausible. Remember, you're dealing with a luna-cult of Mansonites who exist in a bizarro wormhole. To be authentic, your excuses need to come from a tangent of Plutonium-based insanity.
I'm actually reassured to see that you have trouble tuning into this Nitwit wavelength.

(8,419 posts)I will bet anyone. tRump will implode and the remaining repubs AND the media will start pushing the meme that Democrats need to support the Pence admin or we are not patriotic and are supporting Russian efforts to destabilize Western Democracies.
Dollars to donuts, and the media won't call out the hypocrisy.

(1,002 posts)Although I doubt if Dolt 45's core has the ability to come up with excuses even as feeble as the examples you gave. That exercise might force them to think for 2 or 3 seconds - something they abhor. My guess is that they'll all shriek "Fake news!" and "But what about Hillary's e-mails!?" and "Not only wasn't Obama born here, but he wasn't even really black! You Dems let him get away with terrible things and then you got rid of America's only hope for just a few teensy mistakes that anyone could have made!"
I'm already hearing crap like this from the repugs.
