Trying to figure out his motives or motivation is a fool's game -- especially since it's clear that he has none. He's an insecure windsock who may have a dim understanding of his shortcomings, but has been incredibly lucky and well-served by his tactic of simply going with the flow. There is no reason for him ever to develop a strategy, to take a long-term view, to build something. He only reacts to the stimulus around him, agreeing or disagreeing. He's like a bit, capable only of reacting "on" or "off," "yes" or "no." He sees no patterns, doesn't want to, and doesn't know he should. There are no motives or desires to discern. He's a flatworm.
