The Justice Department last month requested banking records of Paul Manafort as part of a widening of probes related to President Donald Trumps former campaign associates and whether they colluded with Russia in interfering with the 2016 election, according to people familiar with the matter.
In mid-April, federal investigators requested Mr. Manaforts banking records from Citizens Financial Group Inc., the people said.
It isnt clear whether Citizens is the only bank that received such a request or whether it came in the form of a subpoena. Federal law generally requires that a bank receive a subpoena to turn over customer records, lawyers not connected to the investigation said.
...snip
Mr. Schneidermans office will likely focus on whether any transactions were used for money-laundering and Mr. Vances office is likely to focus on whether there are any indications of fraud, people familiar with the matter said. Messrs. Schneiderman and Vance are both Democrats.

It looks like they are going after the money laundering angle.

(14,167 posts)2. Manafort is going down; Flynn, too.
They are flight risks. I'm sure they are being monitored. Their passports should be revoked, if possible.
I don't think they plan on ever defending themselves in a court of law.

And they need to stay off of small aircraft, as well.

it isn't like they did consider an escape route. They'll run away to russia, get a "makeover" and carry on.

I'm pretty down and pessimistic right now, but following the money is as good a chance as any to bring about this regime's downfall.
