He gets lost in the history of this because his forced resignation was "unrelated" to Watergate (IIRC). The fact that he got squeezed out before Nixon gives me hope that we won't see a President Pence. (Sorry - now that I've actually typed that out loud, I have to go wash out my mouth, and fingertips, with soap).

I have always lived in Maryland and Agnew was, of course, a former Maryland governor.
I was a junior in high school, on the bus to go home, when it was announced on the radio that he stepped down. I still remember yelling "YESSSS" and clapping at the excellent news.
