Moderate, my ass. Every time a Republican is under siege she comes running to his or her rescue:
-Susan Collins
Really, Susie:
-Donald Trump
Take a nap.

(99,710 posts)I have seen the Bible dismissed as a handbook for living in an agrarian society which has no relevance to our own. But as a piece of literature it has some really good stuff.

(99,710 posts)I sent this to him anonymously under verse of the day:
- Mark 9:47
In a serious vein it sickens me how Evangelicals embrace him. He is everything Christ teaches them not to be. They love him because he hates the same people they do. That in itself is a problem as Christ teaches to love one's enemies.

Are YOU one of those righteous men?
For the sake of all humanity, I certainly hope so."
Thanks for the idea.

(7,431 posts)Moderate Republicans hang on to mild rebukes of Trumpism by this small band of GOPers in Congress, as if there is hope of an autocorrection. There isn't. And Burr, McCain, et al, are just jaw-flapping. There is NOTHING behind their words.

(497 posts)Satisfies Me...only leaves me disappointed. We had a plan to replace her with a progressive Democrat, but the northern part of the state (tRUMP voters, y'known) swung the voters to keep her.

(59,503 posts)put in. This is a rare real win for us on climate change. It is real and without any one of these three, Pence would have broken the tie.
The fact is that to stop anything, we need 3 Republicans assuming we keep all the democrats, which is not a sure thing. That is why it is idiotic to attack Collins, who is not up for reelection until 2020. She is one of the few we can get on some issues. Obviously in 2020, we of course, should try to win her seat.

(99,710 posts)My fidelity is and will always be to the truth. All other considerations are subsidiary. The road to Hell always starts with a lie. I would be a liar if I said this statement is anything but odious:
And I don't want to go to Hell.
karynnj
(59,503 posts)I agree that that is an odious comment. I also agree that it should discourage hope that Congressional Republicans will act against Trump. However, she did something very good on methane .. and climate change is a big deal.

(99,710 posts)Frankly I was shocked by her statement. It is so reflexive Chuck Grassley could have made it.
