(21,646 posts)It was on or around the 4/15 tax deadline, never took a breath spewing all the anti tax rw crap that is so common nowadays
Then went on to tell about a great trip he just had through a national park and he just flew back yesterday. I am sitting there thinking of the FAA who got his plane safely up and down . Both airports and all the government workers there for security and order , roads traveled to and from his destination etc.
oh and did he say a national park ???????

(4,105 posts)That usually shuts them up, but occasionally they'll ask how you see it then. No, we can't be knowledgeable about everything so you have a short answer (like you'll read here) that covers most things.

(21,646 posts)I really do not give a shit or care to enlighten them at the expense of my career just sickening to hear all the stupid why should I pay ,no taxes for me, freeloaders, selfish crap. They are clueless and think most fed taxes go to welfare, Obamacare and abortions.

(4,105 posts)...and I got to where I couldn't stand it. These folks, however, I'd had an established relationship with so I felt free to say that little memorized statement.
And I said it with a huge smile and grin, letting them know I adored them (and did)...you are in the really tough spot.

"Why should I pay for" our town's school system? It's just the way it is, Congressman Blum!

(1,103 posts)he gets up till he goes to sleep with things that need being paid for. He includes big business interests that use public institutions in their every-day affairs which they try mightily to avoid paying for. A lot of it is called the "commons."

(14,308 posts)With insurance, you insure against risks you don't want to face alone. You don't insure against things you don't think you'll face.
Taxes are a whole different issue.
I think the answer is to just agree that healthcare should not be covered by insurance, it should be covered by taxes, just like education, bridges and libraries.

(6,496 posts)Was it not important to the 62 yr old man that he was born and that his mother's health was cared for? I think it was. By not wanting to pay taxes to support maternity care for others you are basically saying you are selfish and don't care about other human beings. These kind of attitudes shouldn't be tolerated in our society, but they have been for a long time. I think our society is falling apart because we are too capitalistic it. I think capitalism rewards sociopathic behavior and our society is ruled by sociopaths now. They don't give a shit about us and have no qualms with stealing from us and hurting us. The Republican party is stocked full of sociopaths. They celebrate taking medical care away from other people. I don't know what else you call that.

(49 posts)Even if you dont have kids in school, do you want to live in a community of grossly un-educated people? And watch what happens to your property values if your school district is poor.

(37,648 posts)He's talking about HIM having to buy maternity care. Not having to pay for someone else's maternity care because his premiums are thrown into the pool.
There really is an argument to be made for all Obamacare (individual market) policies not being the same. It's like a group policy, but the individuals are, well, individuals, and so have no negotiation power, like a business. And the individual market doesn't give individual plan buyers a cut on the cost because it's a group plan, like businesses get when they buy a group policy. It really doesn't seem to make much sense, except as a "I get to charge you more" reason, since the ins. cos. get to pocket that money for benefits that not only will never be used by the insured, but CANNOT be used by him.
Maybe there's another reason for that, but I don't see it. It was never really explained, except to say that they wanted to protect people from being sold policies that didn't provide good benefits. But that has nothing to do with an ins. co. selling maternity benefits to someone that that medical condition cannot apply to. ???

(5,580 posts)You should see my (soon to be ex's) face when I talk about healthcare paying for boner pills and NOT birth control.
Oh lord it is fucking priceless!
I sometimes bring it up just for meanness. But certainly every time healthcare is raised as a topic. Lol

(5,791 posts)of conning their dimwitted followers by stirring up their anger and resentment against paying for the "undeserving".
When they want to divert attention from the fact that they are robbing us in order to give tax cuts to the wealthy, they find a group to pick on that they think their dumbass voters will naturally resent.
Case in point: their latest spin re the AHCA is that the healthy shouldn't have to pay for those freeloaders who make bad health care choices, e.g. diabetics.
Doesn't matter whether the argument makes sense or has reality behind it. All the puke spin meisters want is a target their base can be propagandized into being against.
