What on earth prompted the speech 45 is making to the police?

I came in in the middle of him trying his best to convince the police they're disrespected, mistreated, unappreciated, etc. it's a complicated issue and that's not what I want to ask, but where did this come from? Some random publicity stunt? Some event?

Using a government-sponsored event to campaign. I am assuming this was an official government-sponsored event and the hats were paid for by his 2020 campaign. Of course, if the federal government is paying for the hats, that is another count for the impeachment indictment.

Many/most of his canned applause line fell flat. Didn't seem like the crowd was buying his scripted bullshit. How many times can he say "We love you, believe me! You're great, I can tell you that. America supports you, you can believe I'll tell you that." It was nauseating. And the applause was very thin.

The whole right-wing blue lives matter so stop talking about police brutality against African-Americans.

Because, you know, talking about violence directed at people of color by the police harms the police. They can't do their jobs if they feel the world is watching, and golly, it's so unfair to them anyway.

When you dismantle their unions and whine and rant about their pay and pensions and big government.

Otherwise, when have people ever loved cops as a general matter?

Most people respect cops, but they don't treat them like they are all superheroes either.

The poor and marginalized are the least likely to have candy coated opinions of them and they shouldn't.

Institutionalized bias and racism doesn't have a positive affect on society and that is all that Fat Fascist 45 is lauding - the law and order myth and the part it plays in his fascist scam of scapegoating and fear mongering.

Bragging about them supporting him "bigly," throwing a 45 hat to one of the kids who lost a parent, etc. The blowback might be from those who despise him already but it certainly doesn't sound like any memorial I have attended.
