In one respect - he'll be remembered as a complete failure - and I don't think he could handle that.

In another respect - he might rationalize it by saying his resignation would truly 'Make America Great Again'!!!!!

(Obvious to his fans)

The Fronline piece on him covered his ability to self delude himself in to believing his failures (multiple bankruptcies) are actually wins.

He'll resign and brag about what a great job he did and how we aren't worthy of his efforts.

It would probably accept resignation of the office in a temper tantrum, declaring the US undeserving of his greatness. Or declaring he made America great again and now he's all done.

I find that hide thread feature a HUGE help on here sometimes. I am at a point personally that I hide any thread that I think is re-hashing the last election. I haven't hit that point yet with Louise, but if I do I'll hide those threads, too. I don't take anything as gospel anymore because there is SO MUCH of the news that is so spectacularly insane it's mind blowing. We are living in strange times, and anything that helps make it possible to cope with it is a good thing.

His lawyer will be telling him to hang in for a pardon.

The problem with trying to haggle a pardon is you need to do it with someone who is going to be around and still in power after the house cleaning. With maybe as many as 70 indictments - all around the GOP, that could well be a much bigger problem than what Nixon faced to pull off a pardon. Particularly today, when there will be even less appetite in the court of public opinion to allow it.

And there are questions concerning real estate deals, both involving him and Manafort. Here's something reported today by NBC:

His ego won't let him do that unless he can come up with a way to blame somebody else. The other thing is that it's generally accepted that a sitting president can't be prosecuted for a crime, but once he becomes a private citizen he'd better lawyer up. Of course, Pence could pardon him, but Pence should first ask the ghost of Gerald Ford how pardoning a criminal president affected his re-election prospects.

If he resigned though he would not be president so would be able to be arrested and imprisoned.

Interesting legal question...
if he blabs intel as president it's not illegal technically because he decides what's classified or not.
After becoming a civilian again could he be charged for revealing intel while president?
