There are 196 countries in the world, he chose Russia to give secrets to

He presumably wants help from all countries fighting terrorism. OF all the countries on the planet, he chose Russia to leak to. Anyone of the other 195 countries and people still would have been concerned and thought it was awful, but it wouldn't have been a crisis. Russia, it's always Russia, in the words of Jan Brady, "Russia, Russia, Russia." It's always about Russia.

And this is part of the Russia burn. They could very easily do this through back channels, but they want to burn him publicly as well as let the world know they own him and our government.

If I remember correctly, Malcolm Turnbull had to ask a friend who likes to golf with Trump for his number so he could call him.
Found the link: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-17/greg-norman-helped-malcolm-turnbull-contact-donald-trump/8032690

Also, German media reported at the time that there was no communication between German officials and the Trump team at all.

Then in 2017 we learned that the Trump Team was in "constant contact" with Russian officials, already planning their foreign policies (sanctions) which is illegal. And then we learn that some parts of the US Intelligence Community has records of suspicious contacts dating back to 2015.

WTF.
