One can get one's mind around the idea that people who have lost their place in society might be irrationally angry. But if it's just hate-filled, educated "haves" who voted for him, what do we do about it?

even if we could win election after election with our genuine majority, we still need to change their minds.
we can't just sit back and watch them become an actual majority.

However, there are a lot of suburban white people who need to realize that they are not the only people in this country.
I say this as a white woman though I live in a small, awful, mostly white town, not a suburb per se.

(52,208 posts)in fact, plenty of them will vote for tax cuts that only apply to higher tax brackets than themselves, because, you know, they'll be rich some day and don't want to pay an extra 3.8% on that someday somehow future millions....
