To the purely evil or terminally simple-minded pubbies who keep whining that "The President had the

right---or the authority---to disclose classified information to anyone, including the Russians!": SO WHAT?!?

He has the AUTHORITY to call a press conference and read the name and location of every undercover agent we have in the world, but would saying "He has the authority!" excuse him doing that?

Your ridiculous "argument" in effect excuses his betrayal of our national honor in revealing information entrusted to us on the condition it be carefully guarded and that its source not be revealed.

when what was at issue was their judgment or ethics or stupidity in choosing to *exercise* those rights.

yes, you have the *right* to shout racist things, sexist things, xenophobic things, stupid things, etc., but that doesn't mean it's wise to do so, and it doesn't exempt you from other people then exercising *their* right to call you out on it.

in this case, it's hard to imagine them defending hillary had she been president and done anything remotely comparable. would they be saying, well, she's got the right...?

i don't think so.

Disclosing classified information with a non-ally (like Russia) that one of our allies (like Israel) confidentially shared with us and could do great harm to our ally was dangerously wrong. This careless act already has this and our other allies pondering what and whether they should continue to share sensitive info with us if it might be handed over to someone they don't trust it to be shared with.

This isn't a friggin reality show, Tantrump. This involves other countries, their security and potentially lives.
