Clear Channel. Or as they are now known, iHeartMedia.
Ask Natalie Maines (of the Dixie Chicks) just how fucking liberal or even ideologically "balanced" Clear Channel/iHeartMedia is - a for-profit corporation that has as much as a third of total market share in American radio. They sure gave her a fair hearing back in 2003! Free Speech, amirite?
(I created this thread in light of the recent trend at MSNBC and the "librul lamestream media" meme more broadly, BTW.)

(108,783 posts)Part of the reason they are able to get away with what they get away with is because they're able to accuse the other guy of being part of the problem. But they are the problem now. And a free media with both sides getting equal footing is key to the country functioning stably. But the right is convinced that they have a monopoly on opinions, and that anyone else that doesn't follow their agenda 100% lockstep is the devil. And that's a gigantic part of the problem that gave us Trump.

(72 posts)In the days before social media, as time went on and once-disenfranchised groups were finally being respected, and treated fairly, right-wing gasbags just HAD to make it about them, and their victimhood. ("War on Christmas" "War on Families."
Because wanting everyone to be treated equally is *exactly* how genocide begins.
They're doing to now with these bullshit "bathroom bills". They couldn't handle losing the national debate on gay marriage, so they had to turn their attention on non-existent trans people that wish to rape and/or flash women in restrooms.
Tell all of the sheltered midwestern wives that transwomen are out to rape them and their kids (just like dem dere' Messicans!)
I mean c'mon. These people made Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh millionaires *before* the internet.
What have either of them contributed to society other than their shitty opinions?
It takes a special kind of sociopathy, and broken logic to complain about the gubmint, Hollywood and freeloaders, while also blowing your hard earned money on random strangers *simply because* they say what you want to hear.
