(9,357 posts)I think it highly likely that Thump will be gone on account of threats of impeachment and prosecution, failing physical or mental health, or because he decides that he can't take the pressure.

(55,334 posts)Chances of the House impeaching are small. Maybe one in five. They have a thin majority there, but even if 100% of the Democrats vote to impeach, can you seriously imagine more than 3 or 4 Republicans crossing the aisle?
Then it goes to the Senate. It's high drama. Of course Trump goes to the mat for this. He loves that high drah-ahms. Republicans have 52 votes. But they only need 34 of them to reject removing a Republican president, assuming no purple state Democrats vote to spare him.
If I was a betting man, I'd say Trump is still favored to be president through 2020.

(36,194 posts)Add also the 'scandal fatigue' we the people are starting to experience, and I think he's in the full four years
It'll get so bad he could molest yorkshire terriers on live tv and we'll all just be rolling our eyes

(6,177 posts)If we get the amazing 2018 Democratic landslide that we deserve, then he'll be impeached/forced to resign in 2019.

(55,334 posts)The 2018 looks pretty shitty right now. There's no telling where the mood of the country will be in 16 months and Democrats are not necessarily as disciplined or gifted as Republicans at hanging a loathed incumbent around the GOP's necks.
Optimism is nice. Reality cautions seeing a bigger picture and getting involved.

(6,177 posts)I used the wrong words. But I believe that if we fight for it, we can get it.
I want to believe that some people have learned their lesson, and won't stay home again. Or vote third party.
I'm in Texas and I'm doing my damnedest to help. Of course us red state Dems are skirmishers, not cavalry.

(1,606 posts)The entrenched corporations that control the govt at this point will decide, will an impeachment circus be financially advantageous? If so, then sure. At that time.
Until then, they are blatantly raping us blind while we are all distracted by the idiot orange boob.
I am thinking they'll opt to keep the thing in "office" for now.
