"Republican strategist" says Trump's foreign trip is his "time to shine."

A Republican strategist close to the White House said Trump needed a strong trip to help put the past tumultuous 10 days behind him.

“If the White House is looking for this international trip to turn the page, then it really needs to come off well without any balls dropped or serious mistakes," said the strategist, who requested anonymity.

"This is their time to shine, to show Americans and the world that the White House isn’t becoming a circus of errors.”

Some doubt whether Trump, a businessman-turned politician who never held elective office before becoming president in January, is ready for a smooth presidential debut abroad.

The only time they've really "shone" was doing the campaign and that's because there was no pushback from his base.

If he doesn't completely blow it, everyone will treat it like a roaring success.

Sure, my only experience has been as a meat cutter at the local supermarket, and my only foray into medicine (removing a splinter) resulted in two fingers being amputated, but I have the very best knives so I'm confident all will go well.

The dark cloud cast by Kremlingate and the constant drip, drip, drip of reports of grand juries, indictments, subpoenas and arrests will overwhelm whatever hollow words written by someone else he happens to utter between tweets.
