If the ban on bringing it back goes into effect, then arrange with your last accommodation provider to ship it back to you via DHL or equivalent.

We'll only be gone a week. My husband's situation is different. He has research and slides for presentations on his iPad. Ugh, this is all so insane!

Is to back up the device to a large USB stick or SD card at this end, obtain a device at the other end, and restore that device from the backup made here.

I have a similar problem coming up as well, and will probably have to find a way to get the data, but not a device, back and forth.

in checked luggage. And if you do, good luck with that. You might want to skip taking it and just rely on your smart phone during your trip.

On the other hand, for work, my work laptops and Ipad are backed up in the cloud...should they be damaged or lost in transit, I will be rendered unproductive....

If the new law goes into effect you can still carry it on the flight to Europe. You would just have to check it with your luggage coming back. The reporter seems like they were speculating so I don't think anyone has a solid answer for you, unfortunately.

Here's a video of the report.

If an iPad is checked, it will be stolen and or have every piece of personal and financial data compromised, guaranteed. I will NEVER take that kind of risk. Because of health issues, I have not been able to fly with my husband for 3 years. This may be the first and last time I do it since then. Sucks.
