Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWill Trump implement a "scorched earth" policy when he is forced
to resign his office? He seems a vindictive sort of person to me, so that's a concern, I think. A sitting President has it in his power to do great damage to this country. Fortunately, our Presidents have generally not done that when they have left office, even under duress.
About Trump, I'm not so certain. I hope those who are minding him in the background remain watchful, just in case he attempts to do something disastrous if he is forced to leave that office.

(146,308 posts)Presidential powers are pretty broad. They exist as long as a person is President. If, for example, a President decided that resignation were the only possible course of action, such a resignation could be delayed long enough for a vindictive President to lay waste to a lot of things.
That's what concerns me.

the danger benedict donald presents is too "clear and present" for this not to be the case.

(146,308 posts)You probably are, however Trump is a big fan of keeping people away from himself who are not part of his trusted staff. The West Wing is rather empty these days, compared to the bustle of previous administrations.
