Comey gets his story told from a trustworthy source who spoke with him throughout the several attempts by tRump to win his loyalty, and he manages to keep himself "at arms length". I watched the video clip where Trump spots Comey, who is hiding in the back next to the blue curtains. Trump calls him out by his first name so that Comey has to come out into the middle of the room. Trump then tries to hug Comey, who extends his hand first and rebuffs the hug. Comey then retreats back to the curtains

You could tell that Comey wanted no personal interaction with Trump.
