The men at each end are familiar, but I can't put names to them right now.

mostly with Republicans to display? Hopefully it was just because of their stature. In those days, of course, senators saw themselves as gentlemen and routinely worked across the aisle.

...with unidentified congressmen.. although Ford, Bentsen and Goodell are identified so far..it would be a challenge to try to ID the others just for fun...

Laird was a congressman from Wisconsin in '68, became Nixon's Secretary of Defense.

... is how Time Magazine is describing the photo, with no more names, and they got many more of them. My Google image search describes it just as "Hillary Clinton in her youth".

I used to run into him when I was younger. That's not him.

The maddening thing is, I recognize the two guys to her right, but can't dredge up their names from my memory. In those days, I paid a LOT less attention to Republicans than I do now!

He used to come over to our house occasionally during the brief time he was a Senator from NY. He and my dad were friends, despite their party differences.

totally lost their way, completely sold their soul and when the 'loyal opposition' actually tried to work together more for the good of the whole country and not just their political party.

Doing the math, this was taken the year she turned 21 so it would have the first year she could actually vote and registered as a Democrat, splitting from her Republican family roots. In this pic I can really see Chelsea's resemblance to her mom.

It's interesting to think that just a few years later she was back in DC and in the limelight working on the Watergate investigation. I suspect that the Republican party never forgave her for that (and worse yet to them, being a woman doing that).
