He had a very nice life going. The rockstar lifestyle. His own Boeing 757, winters at Mar-A-Lago and Doral Golf Club. Summers in NJ and his other properties. Gallivanting around the globe being Mr Bigshot. He had pretty solid ratings at NBC for the Apprentice. Flashy kids, big NY City Penthouse, lots of Hollywood/Celebrity friends.
Now? He has meeting after meeting after meeting of stuff he couldn't give two shits less about. He has to be protected 24/7 by a massive amount of Secret Service. He can't just decide to get up and go to one of his properties...that needs to be planned weeks in advance for SS. He can't just go out to dinner with family and friends. He can't do a TV show for his "ratings and ego" fix. Hollywood/Celebrities mostly hate him now. I imagine other friends have probably abandoned him. He is 100% under a microscope at every minute of the day now. His approval ratings suck so that makes him even more miserable.
So what is the breaking point? Does he resign and claim "I won mother Fers...but nobody appreciated me so bye bye..." Does he burrow in and double down on his BS campaign promises and help Congress lose the House in 2018 and lose BIGLY in 2020? Does he die of a stroke from stress?

(12,412 posts)I suspect he will pull a health issue out of his lying ass like he did for the draft.
he needs attention
he needs adulation
he needs people to think that he is the smartest person in the world
I don't think he is going to invent a medical event I think his body is going to say that all this attention is exposing him and his body is going to impeach his ass.

(4,742 posts)The campaign he was high as a kite...adoring, cheering crowds and lots of positive media attention. During the transition I'm sure he was high on life...no real responsibilities. He came into office and was going to start checking off his campaign to-do list. Immigrant muslims ban, border wall, repeal ACA, etc. All that went to shit quickly. I bet at this point he wakes up and prays that he wasn't President.

(37,428 posts)He never brought any talent to the table, not even for lying, so his departure will also be pathetic.
It will amount to I-won't-stand-for-this-witch-hunt, which also parses to "nobody appreciated me," though he will give a shout-out to his remaining supporters in order to claim his continuing popularity.
And millions will weep, blaming the libruls, furriners and Illegals.

(37,428 posts)Trump is an American institution, a mythology built on the notion of him as an international playboy, lover of beautiful women, and smart businessman, made personable to millions via a TV show.
Right-wing America's inevitable disappointment will be exponentially greater at Trump's fall. Revelation after revelation will present a truer picture of him as a sad, isolated old man, a pampered dumbass with no strength of character, no sense of patriotism, and only an adolescent's grasp of anything.
He will envy Palin's slide into ignominy.

(1,128 posts)This will be for the same reason Hillary will never go to prison. The US will not open the Pandora's box that will result in charging and jailing a former POTUS or First Lady. This opens up the first couple to be prosecuted in other countries. Never going to happen. At best, he'll for made to resign or some calamity will befall him.

MANative
(4,112 posts)He's never had any, never wanted it, and wouldn't accept it even when the situation demanded it. And there's no job on the planet with more accountability than POTUS. I'd bet that miserable doesn't ven scratch the surface. Good. When his misery becomes unbearable and he dumps out, ours will finally end.

(5,210 posts)BOUGHT his way out of tight spots.
Now he's brought up short again and again because the government world doesn't work that way. Not everyone is dependent on him for the deals they want. Too many people can't be bullied or bought and there are checks and balances over which he has absolutely no control, though he's trying to exert control over them one way or another.
How he tried to "manage" Comey was a perfect example of his way of doing things being completely out of place and totally ineffective.

(7,812 posts)the morning and help him get through the trials and rigors of the office?
The power high might last only so long, especially if he realizes he doesn't have as much power as he thought...and the self-dealing and personal enrichment is nice but he can't tell anyone about it.
No evidence he cares about the American people...so of course he hates a job where that's supposed to be the priority.
Sugar Smack
(18,748 posts)He resembles a rabid, cornered, startled beast. Trump's limited vocabulary ("tremendous", "outstanding", & phenomenal" will be useless in other parts of the globe. I'm wondering if anyone's told him he's not campaigning any more. I wonder if he'll hand out copies of his election map to the Saudis.
Remember all that smirking he used to do? Exhaustion has wiped that smug look off his face.

(36,461 posts)as soon as Trump figures out a way to spin it as a victory, he'll resign.
I agree he's miserable. He had no idea that government was so different from the private sector, that being President is not the same as being CEO. He thought he could say "You're fired," & his ratings would go up. He didn't anticipate that people would challenge his directives, question what he says.

(4,742 posts)He knows financially he's now set for life. Maybe start his own right wing cable network. Write a book (well it will be ghostwritten of course) and do a six month global book tour. Go back on Stern's show...maybe produce some TV shows. All that crap he loves.

(5,810 posts)I think shock and despair about covers it. Took months before the numb feeling wore off. I hope tRump understands why some people (MANY PEOPLE) despise him and the ground he walks on, but realistically, I know even that won't happen. He isn't capable of that. Sadly, it's his family that will have to know and feel the shame he has brought upon the tRump name. But hey, they helped inflict the horror of Donald tRump on the world, so I can't get worked up with much sympathy for them.

WMDemocract
(36 posts)Lots of Dems are hoping impeachment gets him out of office. I think if anything gets him out of office prematurely it will be a voluntary resignation. He's just not used to dealing with the political process and simply being the head of one of three branches of power (and even then, with limited powers). He's used to a more top-down, pyramidal structure (with him at the top of course).
