But if they're investigating my boss and they think I have information, they're interested in me.

That makes me a person of interest, even if I was just the gofer fetching coffee and fresh paperclips, or the IT guy trying to make sure the computers were properly networked.

than a legal one. It's a broad term that describes a person who is being seriously and closely looked at in connection with an investigation.
