We need to understand a political reality.

That, no matter how much evidence is placed in front of them, 35-40% of total voters will still support him. It doesn't matter if there is video evidence showing the President "obstructing justice" with his very own words. They believe nothing from the "mainstream media".

We are not going to persuade these people to believe any evidence that we may show them. That is a sad reality of politics of America today. There is not going to be any over-whelming majority to impeach Donald Trump, no matter how much evidence is gathered against him. As he said on the campaign trail, he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and he would not lose one supporter. That is the reality.

1. Too Many Republicans Seem to Require Someone to Hate

It seems that too many Americans/Republicans require someone to hate and the current Republican Party effectively and efficiently fills that need. These are people who don't respond to facts, or logic, or reason, and lack any compassion for others. It's more important for them to be right and get their way. It would be a much better investment of time and energy to register voters and work against voter suppression laws than attempt to change their minds.

The Republicans risk is that they become so alienated from the rest of society that the 35% becomes their ceiling. That what can happen when your party becomes a cult full of non critical thinking people.

Gerrymandering and the nature of the Senate and the EC which give outsized power to low populated states, they can have 35% popularity and still be in power. Make it harder to vote to clinch the deal.

They get their "news" from Fox, Breitbart, Drudge, etc. and have a completely warped view of the world and accept this as 100% truth. They think Wapo and Time are "slanted leftist rags". It's like they're speaking and thinking in another language.

Out of nearly a dozen semi-rational candidates, this is the trash that happened to rise to the Republican nomination. The people who voted for them don't care about their country, their fellow man or woman, or anyone other than their racist/sexist/whatever-ist beliefs and themselves.

They are members of a cult and would be willing to follow their "leader" much like Branch Davidians.

They are dangerous and we must understand that we cannot "reason" with these people. We have to view them as a threat to our democracy that must be vanquished.

Then promptly build a fucking bridge and get over it.

It is what it is... they are who they are

In the long run it makes no difference...
unless people allow 'the mystery of the 45 Kool-Aid Cult' to become an obstacle to moving forward...

It would be wise to
Leave the analysis of their behavior & cognitive processes to the historians and researchers of the future....

In order to do that, there must be a focus on ensuring that there will be a future in which historians and researchers are still free to pursue such inquiries.

That's probably the kind of floor we'd be looking at again. Maybe we could get it down to 20% given that a foreign government is involved, but probably only if the GOP switch allegiances too.
