OXYMORON - Business With NO Employees Is New Business Model.

The corporate and business community is serious about having businesses with no employees. How will that work? With the rise of technology more and more businesses want to eliminate having employees. Self service retail stores, robotic factories, phone trees, on demand work hours, etc are the wave of the future.

Since Reagan we have seen a disrespect for workers. They have become unnecessary burdens to business because they cost too much and are erratic or something like that. Unless you are perfect and come with all the requirements already and NEED NO TRAINING it is hard to get hired. Unless you are able to serve the business 24/7 with no rest you are not needed.

The problem is that the GOP supports this kind of business model. The movie Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" and Charlry Chaplain's "Modern Times" presaged this kind of business attitude which was common in the early 20th century. Employees should be automatons with no need for maintenance.

Uber, Lyft and other business models are the future. Rent out yourself, your kids, your tools, your leisure time etc as an entrepreneur is the new business mantra.

Welcome to the 21st Century work model.

1. People also want more flexibility to work when and where they want.

It isn't always the employer that benefits. A young man in our extended family works a few months at time as a trauma nurse; top pay in any hospital he chooses. He saves most of his money to go hiking and photograph some of the most remote, and spectacular, places on earth. A niece only works part time for the insurance benefits so she can still concentrate on running her own business. The have found ways to make work fit in with their needs, not the other way around.

Affordable health insurance is a key factor and it goes hand in hand with both a job and entrepreneurship. If we had universal coverage more people would leave the workforce to start their own businesses, or only work on their terms because they have higher priorities than just a dead end job, or doing work they hate.
