They certainly don't give a fuck about the people in question, but the smart ones give a fuck about how many of them will be trotted on TV to tell their stories which will spell political disaster for them. The worst thing for the GOP is getting exactly what they want.

is they are blinded by their ideology. AKA head up ass sickness. They believe in their "moral principles", with not a single thought given to questioning them or the side effects. Like some religions, they believe things they are told to believe in, without question. And when you point out how their so called moral principles actually work in real life, they will flat refuse to listen to you. They can't be reasoned with and they will only learn the hard way, and in the process of learning the hard way, cause a lot of misery to other people.

Note this is why the GOP went after the religious vote - those people are trained sheep.

I hate to generalize but I've dealt with way too many of this type in my life, and I quit trying to reason with them - it's a waste of time, until the day comes when they open their eyes a little bit and start to ask a few questions themselves. They are set in their ways and only they themselves can change themselves. And yes, they will spout all kinds of garbage / craziness trying to prove they are right...

the ones who will have them primaried and replaced if they don't come through.

People like the Kochs and the Spencers believe all people who do or might need SocSec, the ACA, etc., are unworthy sponges on them. Takers. Unworthy.

AND, that keeping people like this alive weakens society. Their belief is implicit in their agenda: People like this man should die if they cannot pay for their own healthcare. Period.

town halls, and the first one was described in the OP, but the final two town halls were completely supportive of trump and the ACA, so by the time he finished his series of town halls you are left with the impression that the first negative town hall was all but forgotten.

In districts like this, unless the people in that district are adversely affected, they are not going to change there minds, and that will only happen after the damage has been down to them.

I am reminded by a blue collar worker who did an ad for Ronald Reagan for his first term. When the time came for Reagan to run for his second term, that worker had subsequently lost his job. Ironically, that same worker this time did an ad for Walter Mondale.

it's not about the politicians. The optics should help influence enough voters.

There are many benefits and programs that the GOP would have killed off long ago if it weren't popular with their voters, like social security and medicare.

In his district.

For instance:

The second town hall was in a county where Trump had won 85 percent of the vote. This time, there were no protesters, and Comer went in through the front door of the courthouse. He was cheered when he walked up to the lectern, and when he said, like Trump, that he wanted to make America great again, he saw 75 people leaning in, listening, not ready to pounce.

and

“That was the friendliest town hall in the world,” Comer said as he walked out, and now he was in the car with his district director, saying of Trump, “He’s still so popular.”

(referring to his third town hall of the day)

One thing that I have learned is that these type of Republicans are so uneducated they don't see anything until it affects them, then they cry and bitch like crazy!

I remember one elderly couple that came to me because of an alleged medical malpractice claim for the wife. This was about a year after a severe medical malpractice tort reform law was passed in Texas. She had never worked outside of the home and was blaming her surgeon for a bad result. I explained that I would not take their case and her husband became very aggravated with me telling me that unlike my other cases, hers was legit. I said, "So you think I am a crook yet you come to me anyway?" At this point I was a little upset!

I then explained that the tort reform movement was not "Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse", it was insurance companies and corporations against having to pay for medical negligence and I explained in more detail why I refused her case. By not having lost income, since she had not previously worked, just like many children, retirees, and stay at home spouses like this lady was, it reduced the value of her case. Also, with a cap of $250,000 if we hit a home run, the high costs of bringing the suit, especially expert witness fees and attorney's fees she would not put much if anything in her pocket.

Her husband said he thought that was only for frivolous cases, for the moochers. I told him that the claim of too many frivolous cases being filed was pure propaganda. "They used you for your vote which now hurts you and many, many others! We only get paid if we recover money for our clients and we front the case expenses and only get those back if there is a recovery. Why would we file a bunch of cases that won't get paid and the judge would just throw out?

I told them they had been used, that the insurance companies and companies like the Koch's lied to them and they fell for it. They left wondering what to believe and I am sure it took a few other attorneys telling them NO for it to sink in.

Just had to rant about how these ignorant people lack the desire for critical thinking. It has to hit them over the head for them to turn on Republicans, even then many will not. They are too concerned with others they perceive as getting something that they themselves don't get!

The lack of critical thinking skills plus 30 years of RW propaganda has accomplished its intended purpose. Probably beyond the fondest dreams of their corporate masters.

I'm afraid a lot of these type people are going to have to die off before we are going to even have a chance but if the younger generations aren't taught basic logic, reasoning and the value of science and using the scientific method, IDK.

It's a struggle...

They don't have that thing in the brain that tells them, "Wait a minute. That doesn't sound feasible that Hillary Clinton killed a DNC member. Is that true?" Or "Wait a minute. IS firing the guy who is investigating the President possibly obstruction of justice, whether Trump is guilty or not of what is being investigated?"

It has nothing to do w/IQ. They live in a rightwing bubble. They know only rightwing people, live in a rightwing area, watch only Fox News, read only Breitbart and Facebook fake news, and spread the fake stories around to each other, keeping out anything that doesn't support their already conceived ideas. No new data. Nothing that smacks of impartiality. They are ANTI-this and ANTI-that.

The left has its own version of this, but it is far less in intensity, stupidity, hatred, and locking out contrary views. A progressive may actually call out a fake news item, even if it's supportive of progressive ideas. Truth and facts matter. I have never seen a rightwingnut do that.

(There is one area where the left is blind and will not admit problems or fault, in my experience, which I hesitate to identify, lest this post be removed for criticizing the Dem Party. But in most areas, there is a spectrum in which Democrats fall, where they will agree that a less liberal viewpoint might be okay, as long as basic tenets and rules are still maintained. Not so with Trumpers. It's all or nothing. No Muslims. Everything about the Clintons is bad. Obama bad. Michelle bad. Trump great. There are no gray areas.)

is that the pukes--and corporate dems who support these policies--write the legislation so that often the consequences don't take effect until long after the bill is passed. Also, the legislation gets passed often in virtual secrecy, without the worthless corporate media reporting on the provisions and their impact on voters.

So, it's even more difficult for the dimwitted and malinformed to understand the cause-and-effect relationship between voting puke and diminishing quality of life.

The difference now is that the health care legislation is being better covered in real time. Also, there are no dem majorities to hide behind in congress.

Nevertheless, many of the dumbasses who vote puke will continue to support these monsters. The pukes count on it. Plus, pukes are confident that they can rig the 2018 and 2020 elections through voter suppression and gerrymandering.

particularly as a High Cost Quality Auditor (it was my job to manually process claims when they came close to reaching their lifetime maximum benefit allowance, per the specific contract of the subscriber) and a Pre-existing Claims Examiner (investigating anything, and I mean anything, that subscriber had sought medical treatment or taken any meds for....usually it was a 6 month look-back, but here again, depending on the contract)...these are both specific benefit exclusions or limitations that are not understood or explained, in depth, to the general public until it's too late. They think they have "insurance" and it's all good....no, it's not! There needs to be more adequate information and education on these benefit exclusions....Trust me, if there's a way for a major insurance company (I was employed by both Blue Cross and WPS) to avoid paying a claim, they will....no mercy at all, it's business as usual. Sad and pathetic!
