San Francisco following the great Earthquake of 1906.


The Cuyahoga River bursts into flames due from its industrial waste in 1952. Cleveland, Ohio


Young men climb about wreckage after the Great Flood of 1889. Heavy rainfall caused a massive failure of the South Fork Dam, releasing a torrent of water upon the small city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, killing over 2,200 residents and causing $500 million in damages (in today's money).
