14. The Chinese bank rescinded the offer

A Chinese bank, at least partly government owned I think, considered absorbing $400 million debt owed on 666 Madison Ave, the primary asset of the Kushner Company, in return for an equity position. The Kushner Company has negative cash flow from the building so it must somehow reduce the debt burden. Jared allegedly transferred his interest in the building to his siblings before he started working for the Government. Many smelled a possible bribe in the Chinese bank offer and maybe for that reason the deal was cancelled.
