The Mad King, the Mob Boss, and the President: Trump, Soprano, and Nixon

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/the-administration/334343-the-mad-king-the-mob-boss-and-the-brooding-president

Well, now we know. The Trump administration is run on a core principal that would be easily recognized by the Mafia: loyalty or omerta.

According to news reports, shortly after his Inauguration, President Trump summoned FBI Director James Comey to dinner and demanded a pledge of fealty, which Comey declined. Trump (insert The Don if you will) kept the FBI director on without a formal loyalty oath, evidently expecting that at least Comey would honor the code of omerta that stresses the importance of silence, i.e., never cooperating with law enforcement.

Instead, Comey publicly disputed Trumpís claim that then President Obama had wiretapped the Trump Tower and disclosed that the FBI was investigating possible collusion between the Trump presidential campaign and the Russians in the hacking of the 2016 election.

So, Comey was kicked out and told to keep his mouth shut or else.

Granted, itís unfair to compare the Mafia with the Trump administration. After the Comey firing, Trump has been characterized in the media as impulsive,thin-skinnedd, undisciplined and insecure, which are not terms typically used to describe mob bosses.

1. Trump is a wannabe mob boss.

He probably watched a few movies and thinks this is how he should behave.

Most mob bosses are smarter than trump. They have to be, just to stay alive.

3. "which are not terms typically used to describe mob bosses. "

Capone was portrayed much like that, most recently in Boardwalk Empire.
Tis true that with those characteristics, you are not likely to be boss for long.

4. These people here no nothing of La Cosa Nostra or Ndrangheta...

But they like the Italian stereotype.

For example " omerta" is not an oath of loyalty, it's a code of silence because in la Terra madre, the police and politicians were corrupt. In the new land, it was the same. All business is handled within the community.

It is a way of life in southern italy and it's nothing like on TV.

Gotti was a fool and a bad boss.
