I live in a townhome complex, someone placed a trump/pence election sign on a commom area of grass

which is strictly prohibited by the our HOA's, no political signs, "for sale" signs, etc.

I grabbed it early this morning ...the question is..what should I do with it?

I feel I should cut it up in small pieces and leave it where I found it but that would seem petty and I hate trash

Don't destroy them. Ask the mgmt to remove them, or at least hand them over to the the office.

Let your management company or the president of the HOA board know you have it. It is their job to deal with it. In the future, notify them of the violation and leave the sign be until they remove it.
