The Kushners

Kelly O'Donnell on MSNBC just referred to the Kushners, as the media continues to repeat, as "devout Jews."

Devout Jews do not ask rabbis for permission to violate the Sabbath. I could list a number of other indicators that make it clear that the Kushners are
what many would call "Conservadox," that gray area where many Jews make peace with balancing the laws of Judaism and the modern world. There is nothing wrong with that. But a "devout Jew" is something very different.

I know some will find this petty and that criticism of others religious practice may be inappropriate. But the Kushners hold themselves out as something they are not. It's offensive to a lot of people.

Nothing surprises me - no acts done in the name of whatever religion. And that's all I will say about that.

Do "devout Jews" plan on raising their children with Saudi blood money, in case they are imprisoned, or forced into exile, for treason?

Just how "devout" are Jared and Ivanka, really?

Or reform jew, or reconstructionist, or hadidic, or modern orthodox, or...
The issue is that the Kushner are not devout orthodox Jews as they claim to be. They are not Shomer Shabbat.
They appear to be as hypocritical about that as they are with most aspects of their secular lives.

10. I think it's a mistake on the medias part to characterize them that way.

As to whether they are "devout" or not, I don't care. For the media to call them that implies that they have some sort of moral compass. Most people think religious people are "doing the right thing" and with the kushers nothing in their behavior or actions speaks to me about being good people.

They are con artists using religion to justify their bad behavior, nothing more.
