My dear wife said she listened to a little bit of Hannity on the radio (he had Eric Trump's wife on) just to hear what they are saying.
Here is a synopsis:
*How wonderful the trip is going so far.
*Obama "apology tour" was far worse.
*Hillary and the uranium deal (proven false) as if it was real.
*How Obama bowed.
*How journalists and "the media" are out to destroy tRump.
*How journalists and "the media" are out to destroy America.
Etc...etc.
Is there any wonder why some of their believers will turn violent when the house of cards crashes?

(111,339 posts)mostly because it's all they hear at work on their radios and at home when they look at those pretty blondes on Pox News. They also hear similar things from the pulpit in a lot of wingnut churches where the pastor did real well off W's faith based dollars.
If, by a miracle we are back in control of the House and Senate at some point, we need to make a priority out of reinstituting the Fairness Doctrine. Smashing 100% propaganda 100% of the time in many markets would go a long way toward getting the country back on track. Until then, they'll continue to cling to an alternate version of reality that doesn't exist in fact, with cognitive dissonance keeping them angry and fearful.

(52,317 posts)it's a sick but self-perpetuating worldview, they've successfully eliminated threats to their worldview but dismissing other news sources and even facts themselves as presented by anyone other than themselves.
i'm at a loss as to how to reach these people at this stage. any challenge and you're immediately branded an enemy.
i used to advocate laughing in their face, and i think that could have worked 10 years ago, but no longer. not even ridicule will work.
